I have to take the daughter and her mate to the 'Diff on Sunday evening to see *gulp* McFly:o , meaning I have a couple of hours to kill. Looking for somewhere decent and not too pricey, any cusine (we'll eat pretty much anything :D )

Suggestions?

The maderia (portugese)

i was going to go there once but the guy i spoke to didn't even seem to know some fairly common portuguese recipes and ingredients which put me off. maybe it's improved though

It's good for the kebabs, I reckon, but that's about it. It's not by any stretch 'authentic' Portuguese.

bloke i spoke to hadn't even heard of bacalhau (the portuguese salt cod) which is the equivalent of a brit not having heard of steak and kidney pie

Well, a couple of people at work also rated the thai place, so i think it'll be that one.

Thank you all!!!

And don't forget, if the kids are peckish when they come out of the concert (that screaming and crying must burn up a few calories, after all) -there's always a hearty heap of "chicken off the floor" and "nairff'n'nairff" waiting for them in one of Caroline Street's more colourful traditional eateries.

i think there's actually a student t-shirt doing the rounds in cardiff saying 'i've done miss millie' or something like that in homage to the caroline street chicken takeaway

They serve meals in the Millers Tavern pub which is right next to the CIA, i expect it will stop serving food by a certain time though. I used to be a mystery shopper for food in brains pubs so if you need any advice on any brains pubs feel free to PM me because I've had over 100 meals from them!
