Apparently it has no campsites. Why?

Walked around it for hours last week, utterly beautiful and serene.
The campers and nutters are to found here (http://www.info-mallorca.co.uk/magalluf/) - the Horror

In the albufer we found these;
The Night Heron

Please note that though the caption claims Florida, this bird has a very wide range, including India and Italy

They are all butchsites. The camp ones are in Ibiza.

Ha, very good. But really. A bloke who goes there all the time on business made this claim at the weekend. There used to be campsites there but now there aren't any.

If it is anything like some parts of the Spanish mainland, the better organised campsites are run by [mostly Catholic] charitable youth organisations, and most of the year they were used for planned groups of kids.

Following the payouts for kiddy-fiddling by priests, church bodies with responsibility for children are now rather risk averse about legal liability. Whether it is a practical matter of ensuring they keep their young charges free of booze and other recreational substances, or the more remote risk of predatory adults who book into the sites, I get the impression that groups like Fundació Pere Tarrés and the scouting groups no longer find it worthwhile to advertise for campsite bookings from individuals.

You could try making a reservation enquiry for their Mallorca site:

Looks very much like the view from the villa we rented in the summer :p

A five minute drive from this beach:

Also not the image most people have of this wonderful island.

my sister lives in the hills in Mallorca so I am lucky to be able to visit whenever I like, it is one of the most beautiful island and has far more to offer than Magaluf

When I was visiting friends in Mallorca, we walked through Magaluff on the way to our destination. I was utterly shocked, really drop-jawed when I saw some of the absurd behaviour the Brits get up to.

My friends said "This is nothing, you should see it in the summer. You should see what they get up to in the nightclubs".

Mallorca's beautiful- especially the inland bits. You don't have to go far to get away from the shite.

A bit like England in that respect - venture away from the tacky resorts and there are gems to be found...
