I'll be living in South West Poland, not too far from the Czech border, for four months next year.

I'm planning ahead and looking at places I can feasibly visit at the weekends while I'm there. I don't think the town I am staying in is supposed to be that great.

I've come up with Krakow, Berlin and Wroclaw (that's the closest big city). Does anyone know any other places I could get to for a weekend? I want to make the most of where I'll be and see as much as I can. :)

Krakow is just wonderful, you'll love it there.

Other places i'd recommend visiting in Poland are Torun and Gdansk. Prague and the Czech Republic are close by. If the outdoors is your thing then youre close to the Tatra Mountains.

Don't bother going to Ostrava! Nice beer mind, and lots of it.

I'm not a fan of beer. I like wine, but I've already been told there is not much choice of decent wine in Poland. Oh well, my liver needs a break. Although I'll probably just switch to vodka. Apparently the Tesco has a whole aisle of different varieties of vodka.

I'd like to give ski-ing a go and I like horse riding, hopefully I'll be able to afford them!
