Look how lovely and sleek it looked when it first opened in 1971!

Lovely. I wonder if the shops were still up the side?
How long was Dorothy Perkins there?
Didn't there used to be a Littlewoods or C&A there somewhere?
We obviously need some later pictures ;)

Yeah, I remember that, but in between Dorothy Perkins and 7-11?
Oh, Robills :D
Anybody know what all the empty space above the tube station is/was - who it belongs to etc?

isn't there a desk up there or have I imagined that?
It's amazing how it's still not finished.

And, indeed, how they are again re-tiling the booking hall and replacing the platform ceiling-covers.

Does anyone know whether the tonne of bricks murals are coming back?
That's kinda cool, Brixton station was opened on the same month/year I was born! Doesn't say which day though...
What never ceased to surprise me was that they never covered the maps with a sheet of plastic.
The station you were at was always worn away. Took them a few decades to get round to that. Its not as if clear plastic didn't exist in 1971.
