Bit naughty this, innit? Some feel that the recent long overdue investment has proved a bit of a double edged sword, with the slew of swanky bars and restaurants threatening the very essence of Brixton.

We tend not to agree: it'll take a lot more than a few sushi bars to kill off the colourful, exciting and unique character of Brixton.
The recent wave of investment in the area, as in other gentrified areas in London, has proved to be a double-edged sword. Swanky bars and restaurants have begun to threaten the essence of the area, according to Natu and Marie....

Maybe, but the word on the streets says that it will take more than a few sushi bars to kill off the colourful, exciting, edgy and unique character of Brixton.

And they added "edgy!"

If that is a journalism student who's done that (Im looking at the URL) it's a very very stupid thing for them to do.

Hopefully, they've moved on to writing original material now.

In my University where I'm doing a part time course if I was found to have obviously plagiarised any work like this guy has done, I would be suspended from the University. And rightly so.

Not a guy..

Divya Guha is a twentysomething journalist and magazine writer. She is not - and has never been - an art student.

Where was your original copy published? How much did they lift from your article? It's very dodgy indeed.

One leaves the exhibition admitting, a little grudgingly, that even though the day-dreaming flower children failed to sow seeds of real sedition and change, their importance is talismanic.

Hmm.

It's odd how some journalists think that the ability to reproduce clichés somehow constitutes good writing.

It's not that odd how some journalists think that the ability to reproduce clichés somehow constitutes good writing because we live in an age where journalism and creative writing are well and truly divorced.

Where was your original copy published? .It's been lifted from the article on my site. I'm not that bothered, to be honest.

It does look like it's been lifted.

If she has lifted it, trying to pass it off as her own opinion or writing would have been bad enough, but attributing it to characters "Natu and Marie"... well, that's even more unforgiveable than regurgitating something and changing the odd word.

Another Jayson Blair in the making?

I did that much earlier this year when I discovered that Julie Welch had plagiarised an old Independent match report to write her supposed reminiscences of a football match played in 2000 for the Observer...

That street party line of your seems to suggest a real intolerance of the place too - surely people living near pubs should expect a little noise and people outside. It's hardly as though the DofE materialised in its current location overnight.

Yup, agree with the fact there will be some noise and people outside. We have that at the moment and it's fine.

However putting tables along the footpath, blocking it and also giving people a place to install themselves for the evening thus making much more than a little noise is not on.

About 2 months ago there was a particularly unpleasant experience when my wife was on her own at home, a fight spilled out into the road - 2 guys going at it with pool cues. Police called the whole lot. They weren't even fucking barred afterwards.

Thats the way the Duke is gone and if it's ok with you I'd rather not have the potential for those type of people drinking outside my window.

Anyway you are making the same points that have been made here regarding the Duke 100 times. And if you think I'm being intolerant I don't give a fuck. You don't have to live there. :)

I blame the Govt

With their Iraq dossier bollocks they gave the green light to theft and copying of all sorts

Anyway, she is obviously very lazy, and more that likely very stupid too

I hope she gets her botty spanked, hard, by her teachers:cool:
