This place has been confusing me in the eight years I've lived in Brixton. I'm never sure whether it's a bookshop, furniture shop, cafe, bar or some mixture of two or more of those.

Anyway it currently seems to be a bar and I was in there last night.

Well recommended as a place to go on a weekend night if you fancy going somewhere you can sit down and hear yourself talk/think.

Landlady seemed very friendly and there was a homely kind of atmosphere.

Seems like the kind of place worth supporting and encouraging the survival of in Brixton.

Apologies if there's already a thread on it somewhere.

I'll give it a go when I next want a cosy catch up chat with a friend or a more intimate evening....

I miss when it was the juice juice bar with 2nd hand books though.. :(

Yes, the only criticism would be that it feels slightly shiny & new ... compared to what it was like before with the second hand books and all that.

Is it just me or was it a retro furniture shop at some point in between? Or am I confusing it with another corner on Coldharbour Lane? And if so was it the same shop that is now on the corner in Herne Hill?

The Herne hill shop was originally next to the Juice bar by the Thai restaurent. That was doing quite well there so the Juice bar changed to furniture as well.Make up your own mind what u think of that.
