So the guy that used to be the UK's ambassador to the UN, Emyr Jones Parry, has been appointed to chair an 'All Wales Convention' which will examine Wales' constitutional future.

Hopefully this will provide the necessary academic and background work for a referendum on primary law making powers for Wales.

I met and had a chat with EJP in the delegates dining room at UN in NY while having St. David's Day lunch this year. He's a nice guy imho. That's all!

I have no idea about it really, the Convention doesn't mean much to me, the proper debate will be at street level- though I suspect as usual few will turn out to vote.

Not that I know of? He is an establishment figure however, ex-ambassador to the UN, was the UK's Permanent Representative to Nato, European Union Director, Political Director at the Foreign Office. Don't know what his political views are.

The Western Mail article says:
"Put simply: those Labour MPs opposed to any further devolution can rest assured that Sir Emyr is used to dealing with slightly bigger fish than Don Touhig and Kim Howells."

Bear in mind this isn't to do with the Yes campaign which won't start for several years yet, this 'Convention' is aimed at starting a debate and doing the background work.
