Me and my other half were gonna move to Surrey Quays but have decided to widen our area of flat hunting. What shops have lots of 'to let' ads in their window in the Bermondsey/Deptford/Lewisham area (in the same style as Brixton wholefoods has). your help will be appreciated as gumtree is getting BAD now. Thanks:)
I'd pick Deptford myself, cant abide Bermondsey and Lewisham is just depressing.

yeah thats what we are looking at.We only need somewhere for about six months,I lived in Lewisham for a while, not sure if i could settle there permanantly but thought it was ok, and my other half is from Bermondsey- he wont have a bad word said against it.:)

There are lots of nice parts to Lewisham.
I really don't like the area around south bermondsey. Why not surrey quays?

The filth keeps the middle class snobs out. Or at least holded up in that wank art gallery cafe on the right.

Deptford Market is great. A Tesco-free zone.
Filth? Noise? Life in the big city, innit.

Its definitely not working! :) Did you see 'The Tower' then?
And did you ever sail the mighty quaggy in the end?

Filth? Noise? Life in the big city, innit. The market used to be wicked. My mum has been going there for 25 years. Now its full of tut. East Street is loads better. Its not as dirty as Dalston though, but at least there are bargains in Dalston.
My Tailor - Sidney Charles - was in Deptford Hight street
gone now:(

Quaggy trip will be soon. The sort of storm we got this morning would have been ideal....

He was my tailor too and I was really upset when he died. I am off for a third fitting from King and Allen tonight and will likely smack the fella if they have not got their finger out.

:)You've been saying "soon" all summer! How did the walk through go?
So did you see The Tower? The transformation of a former Lewisham block on the Pepys called Aragon Tower into The Z Apartments?

Back in the day, this place wouldn't have let a statement like that go by without everyone taking the piss. :D

I didn't realise that he had died, I spoke to him a few times when I was passing through the market. I do know that his felloe worker Steve set up his own buisness somewhere as a tailor, and he was a nice bloke too.

Where is Steve? Any clues?
which has a selection of bespoke tailors cannot be said to be bereft of middle class inhabitants, unless of course their patrons are all fallen members of the Aristocracy.
Tops, Zoltan, of "Noble" descent are we??????:D

I think it was close to West Finchley, he said that he had always wanted to have his own business, and he considered that area to be a good choice. I'll have a chat with a few locals and see if they know any more.

Most sold working class areas have a tailor or at least used to. I am a product of penniless immigrantsand I paid for all my own suits! I should not have slagged king and allen too much. The reason I was cross was the two suits I have ordered which have to last for a decade or more were totally two sizes too small and the fella tried to tell me they were a good fit hence the nark. They are remaking them from scratch now...

Apart from caning the drugs, suits were my only real expenditure out of my not so big income
the thrill of going somewhere that has your measurements, going an and speccing your very own suit is fantastic - fitted like a glove - as I mentioned, where else was I going to get a mohair mod suit with any number of pockets in any order , with velvet collar & a 48 inch chest and arms as long as a monkey ?
or the midnight dracula black one with coffin silk red lining ?
fuck, ive gone to the dogs since the shop closed down ........what a scruff
I need to find decent tailor in SE22/ SE15 actually
Sidney always took six months and four fittings to do my siuts. This was handy as I had to pay like a tenner a week....
teh vic reeves ( Jim Moir ) got his done in there - I used to check out some absolute beauties
