It is more popular for its picturesque harbour and community feel but now the residents of Stonehaven have a financial reason to like their town - it has the cheapest home and contents insurance in the UK.
Research from price comparison website moneysupermarket.com found the Aberdeenshire town has the average lowest quote throughout the UK.
It costs a mere £109.69 a year on average for the AB39 postcode area.
Just along the road at Cove, Portlethen, Nigg, Altens and Banchory - the AB12 postcode area - the residents can enjoy the seventh-cheapest home insurance in the country.
The research found London has 19 of the 20 most expensive areas in the UK for home insurance.
West Norwood, in Lambeth, south London, is the most expensive, with premiums at £342 a year.
Richard Mason, director of insurance at moneysupermarket.com, said: "The gap between the most expensive and cheapest insurance areas is likely to widen as insurers continue to load premiums in big city areas, and urban areas considered to be at risk.
"If your property is classified as being in a high-risk area, whether that be for crime, flooding or subsidence, your insurance premiums will be comparatively high.
"Cities such as London, Liverpool and Bradford feature prominently as the most expensive areas in contrast to rural counties such as Fife, Devon and Powys.
"West Norwood's premiums on a like-for-like basis are more than Stonehaven, Diss and Morpeth put together."
He said key factors behind the different prices included crime rates, affluence, flood risk and the likelihood of being affected by subsidence.
"There are no hard-and-fast rules, though, so an affluent area which is relatively free from crime may still suffer from high premiums," he said.
"I would call on insurers to assess premiums on a case-by-case basis, rather than blacklisting cities or areas."
