Cultural event of the year as far as I'm concerned :D

The World Beard & Moustache Championship takes place in Brighton on the 1st September weekend. I've got a friend whose been growing his beard for two years for this so I'll go to cheer him on and any excuse to visit Brighton.

My friend has been growing something with a mind to entering this as well for while now. Unfortunately, i am already busy otherwise i may have been tempted by this.

eta - Ahh there is a parade from Brighton Town Hall at 11am. Definately gonna make that if I don't go to the Brighton Centre.

tbh i was going to give this a try. not for the winning, cos i couldn't have done that, but just for shits and giggles. but after having a handlebar tache for six months after growing it out of boredom i got sick of being the tache guy and shaved.
This has been in my calendar for about a year! I didn't know which weekend though and he's working the sunday so. Hmmm. Might have to spend friday night down there and come back on saturday. :D

apparently it says on the website that it is. but my mate phoned up and they've increased the capacity and say that it will be no problem getting a tickt on the door

My mate was the one who went as Fidel Castro and we screamed our heads off in support, but to no avail. :D
My digital camera decided to conk out that very day :mad:
there was a lot of them back at our hotel bar in the evening - they were a right lovely bunch. quite a messy evening that. i'm feeling inspired to grow a huge 'tache and enter the next one in two years - but it's in alaska!

we saw billy childish doing his bit of judging but didn't notice nick cave, who we've seen in other photos of the event (we weren't in there for ages to be honest)
Nick Cave was on at the same time as Billy Childish, but sitting on the table opposite. The judging of the individual categories did drag a bit.
ah right, well we were stood on the right hand side of the stage , so we would have been behind nick cave - which is probably why we didn't notice him :D
