I brought a fishing rod up from the folks' place at the weekend.
I've seen people fishing on the south bank, east of London Bridge, and further down. Can anyone tell me if this is legal, is a permit required?
I've looked on the Port of London Authority site and can't see anything.
Ta.
THinks its tidal , so you should be OK for permit, but you may need a rod licence - let me check
surrey quays is teh place!
Cos you need the Enviroment Agency I think: http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/subjects/fish/246986/?version=1&lang=_e

It's a tidal thing. There's been some old boys outside the IBM building most mornings this week. Fishing for... eels!
One of them had a huge mutha being kept in a plastic bag full of water. Apparently there's good money in selling them on.

Is this the IBM building by the [LWT] TV studios, just down from Waterloo/Hungerford Bridge?

Yup, they're pulling one out every 5 minutes or so. Gotta feeling the tide has to be going the right way tho'.

you could fish near my old flat - surrey quays. Think you need a permit though.

SK = brandlings for perch , red maggots or bread at low tide for everything else - fish near the bottom, but you may have your bait robbed by teh crabs!
some old fella may come along and ask you to buy a day ticket for a couple of quid - its happened to me once or twice
also - Decathlon is just up teh road for supplies - in fact, you can fish in the lake right outside the decathlon cafe for roach n stuff !
