I've had an email from Equity saying they owe some monies to his estate but have been unable to track down any beneficiaries.

Can anyone help (obviously PM the details please, and I'll forward them).

Thanks.

You mean this mythical gentleman, I assume

Out of interest, if you do find them, how on earth do you manage to convice them that they REALLY are beneficiaries of an estate windfall and not targets of a dodgy West African spam scan.

I reckon Urban's the editor's very convoluted front for a scam. ;)

Aren't wills a matter of public record? I don't know where you'd look to find them though.

Will's are lodged at the probate court, and ultimately at 'Somerset House', which may in reality be a warehouse somewhere. So looking for wills is one thing, beneficiaries another matter.

If a person dies without a will, then there are rules about the precedent of inheritance through family members.

Mrs Magpie knew Alfie going back a few years, she may be able to help.

(shouldn't it be 'who Alfie Howard's beneficiaries might be' ?)

He had daughters, I met them at his funeral...ask past mayors and mayoresses perhaps...I have no idea where his daughters live....I reckon a letter to the SLP letters page would do the trick.

They've already been in touch thanks to another poster here and they're going to run an article on it.

Great. I miss him. I first met him when I was 5. I used to think he was really tall then.....

Perhaps he was really tall then.

I know gent of advanced years, small and slight, who carries with him a photo of his former self. Tall, broad, powerful, he was back then.
