"This involves London getting funding from Venezuela"

WTF? He has well and truly lost it.

It's a cheap diesel deal with Venezuala that lets poorer people on the bus for cheap. Nice one.

PS: Keicar, if you're upset about where that oil is coming from, you might want to think about where the oil in everyone's cars comes from...

"In return, Venezuela will get expert and specialist technical help from London to improve its public transport, environment, tourism and town planning."

So TfL consultants' time is worth fuck all? Sounds about right.
(Nice work if you can get it though, few jollies to Venezuela at our expense.)

I'd be saying the same things if Saudi was funding our bus services.......

So you don't want anyone's oil then? Cycle much?

Have a rapeseed oil generator for your house and a fucking windmill?

Pff.

No, not keeping quiet. It was in the Londoner, which came through my door, and it's on the Londoner's website. What more do you want? Personal missives from Ken?

But not everyone reads that newspaper. And not everyone has internet access. Especially low income families on income support. A mention on the TV news might bring it to the attention of the people that need it. What is the point unless people know it is there to claim.

He doesn't get to choose what's on the news though.

Although I'm sure he'd like to.

This deal also means that bus fares for everyone else will fall by 10% :)

It was on the ITV and BBC local news, a couple of months ago now, IIRC, around the same time Ken was getting hassle from the GLA tories for going to Venezuela.

But why didn't Ken telephone low income families to let them know it was on? Or at least video it for them.

There's no need for the sarcasm. I was just saying that something like this needs more publicity to make sure it reaches the people that need it.

How much do you want? How much more mediated news could you care for? It's in print, it's online, it's broadcast on radio and television.

Here's an idea for you xsunnysuex, why not do a few A4 posters and get them put up in doctor's waiting rooms, near postoffices and jobcentres, or write to your local paper's letters page mentioning how to get the reduced fare (and asking readers to spread the word)?

Just another way to get you into the database.

Oyster is simply another way of the police state adding you to the list. The ability to track and trace your every movement. We already have to pass the millions of big brother cameras in London that now have facial recognition and lip reading software attached to them but let's not play in to their hands. Let us not be fooled by their half price gimmicks.

Pay cash while it still exists.

Wake up and don't be fooled!

Peace....

Don't register your Oyster. Top-up only using cash. Easy peasy.
