Started on the FX channel on sky on monday. You can watch the 1st episode online at www.gu.com/thewire.
On the face of it it's just another cop show but as the show progresses it covers so much.. the fight against drugs features heavily but there is also local politics and education.
They've made 4 series so far and it's the best thing I've ever seen on telly by far. But the reason I'm mentioning it here is that sometimes the themes it covers reminds me of discussions had here.
Thankfully we're a fair way off from living in areas as violent and run down as those depicted in the show but perhaps it's a warning as to what could be round the corner if we're not careful.
Anyway, I'll shut up now. I know everyone doesn't have sky, you can get the box sets on dvd for series 1 to 3. Shop around you might found em cheap.
