Dear comrades

I'm helping a mate organise a small free (charitable) festival on Clapham Common for Sat 18 August at the bandstand. We've got lots of help in terms of DJs, people designing flyers etc but still need a few things if we're going to be able to go ahead:

- We can get a decent rig and sound desk for £300 but need to keep costs down, so if anyone has any ideas of something cheaper or better, please let me know
- A sound engineer or someone who know's their stuff
- We need two medical people to be there for first aid - any ideas? Mates who are nurses etc? (It'll be a good day out and may be able to pay expenses!)
- We need a few more bands to play, preferably local. Prob wouldn't be able to pay them anything/much but ideas welcome. People who have played at Offline perhaps?
- People to help with stewarding, organising on the day.
- Ideas/venue for an after party.

This is a charity thing and we need to get as much stuff for free/as cheap as possible so your help/suggestions gratefully received! Please post here or PM me....

You haven't said which charity it's for.

Fair 4 Life, cancer awareness charity. It's the same charity the event in 2005 in Brockwell Park was done for (...which was ruined by the last-minute imposition of a fence, you may remember.) New F4L website currently being built...

£300 for a decent rig, desk and engineer is a good price mate.

Are you doing it in Clapham because they won't let you in Brockwell park?

Judging from Lambeth's jobsworth approach last time then I suspect it's more to do with Clapham Common falling under Wandsworth's control?

Are you doing it in Clapham because they won't let you in Brockwell park?Too much hassle and expense at Brockwell Park. It's simply not worth it. The Council have said it is under-used as a venue but seem to make it as difficult as possible to hold an event there.

What a shame. There used to be several things each summer there. Now it's just the Country Fair. Lambeth can't have many valid excuses if Wandsworth can sort it out for Clapham Common.
