these three fine people put on a spell-spinding night a few weeks back. if for you, the song is the thing, and you like a bit of ninja-tune style latptop jiggery (the man in question recently remixed bonobo...), tonight is for you.

oh, and the four smoke feathers songs on myspace are free to download at the moment...

The Ritzy Café

“A great place to chill out after a film with a programme of music, visual and film events.” bbc.co.uk

UPSTAIRS AT THE RITZY CINEMA
Brixton Oval SW2 1JG
08707 55 00 62

Thu 19 July – Hiatus feat. Smoke Feathers and Charlene Soraia
A spellbinding blend of samples, electronica and original compositions, this is one for those of you into the quieter side of the Ninja Tunes catalogue, the dreamy elements of the Leaf label and those of you who sit through the credits of a film to check who composed the haunting soundtrack you just heard. His two guests were responsible for an hour of silence in the Café last time they joined him at the Ritzy with their wonderful song-craft. Don’t miss them this time round…

hi melinda
the editor is usually cool with the ritzy cafe postings (as long as it doesn't clash with an offline night)...plus i thought anyone's free events are welcome, or has u75 become stricter on that point these days...mmmhhh...

ahh, the ever-ready and famed u75 friendliness rears its head...melinda, what gives? ever played in a band or for that matter done anything that you needed to drum up an audience? thought not...if you have any concrete and proper objections to my posting free gigs on here, i'd be glad to hear them...in the meantime, i'll just keep spreading the word about good shit that people might like...perhaps have a chat with the editor about what it's like to put on nights with people that are not very pro-active in spreading the word...live and let live, eh?

ed - you're using a different log in, so to anyone who didn't know who you are your post looks VERY MUCH like spam, no? so while your post is legit, it might be more useful to be less snippy with those who couldn't have known that, eh?

Yeah, it puzzled me too - cos I know there have been plenty of these, so wondered why the post count was so low.

To avoid the sharp tongues it's always wise to put 'cleared with the mods' in :)

ok. sorry if the snippyness offended but it just seems a bit weird that someone would keep saying 'delete it anyway' kind of thing but i should just ignore it i guess. i read this boards a hell of alot more than i post on them and too often you actually don't feel like replying or engaging with the discussion that is going on due to the tone and at times aggression coming from some posters. anyway, will put 'cleared with the mods' next time for sure. cheers for the tip.

I wouldn't let it get to you Ed. Seeing off spammers has turned into a bit of a game on Urban. And there are so many people who barrel in here posting up huge jpegs to advertise their twenty quid event without so much of a mention of a discount etc, that they deserve all they get.

But equally, the game's not much fun if decent folks get caught in friendly fire, as has happened here. I agree that there's far too much agression on Urban, but that's what happens when people with nothing else in their lives spend too much time on the internet. Just ignore it. Being snippy in return isn't the answer.

:) :)

Oh dear.
Ed20- Apologies if you were offended, my tongue was very firmly in my cheek, Im sorry you couldnt see that. There was no indication from you that it was a sanctioned promotion and we were messing around. *shrugs*

Hardly worth all the angst, especially considering the posturing cock waving nonsense that often does go on here.

Still all's well that ends well, eh?
