View Full Version : Should we change this forum to "Brixton and surrounding area"?

Just a thought.

If I'm posting about stuff close to Brixton (Camberwell, Streatham etc) this seems a more appropriate forum than the London one, so maybe it would make sense to alter the forum title a tad.

Opinions?

Sounds like a good idea otherwise you'll have those Tulse Hillers and Dulwich mob wanting their own forum as well, not to mention that St Reatham lot :D

on second thoughts, you may be right and may only encourage the Clapham set to come in and we wouldn't want that. They may try to gentrify us

Does it matter? I always assumed it wasn't strictly about Brixton, just about this general area...

The "Brixton and associated ares, but not parts of SE24, and anything West of Tesco's is Clapham, really" Forum?

I noticed a couple of message boards last week that surprised me with their thriving. Both were Borough focused, which caused me to think a while. There’s a lot of commonality at Borough level, taxation, schooling, housing, policing even – I suspect a bunch of Internet people look for that; ‘Brixton / Lambeth', maybe include 'Southwark' or 'adjoining' ?

In honour of our visionary council I think it should be the Lambeth Forum.
Or, why not got the whole way and call it "We Love Lambeth"?

Does it matter? I always assumed it wasn't strictly about Brixton, just about this general area...Well, a few times I've posted up something about Camberwell or Streatham only to have some pedant go, "Ooooh! That's not in Brixton!".

But seeing as most people take this forum to cover Brixton and its immediate area, I'll leave it as it is.

No harm in a bit of consultation with da urban massive tho', eh?

I always assumed it was the general area too, including TH, Streat Hill, Streat....not Streatham Vale though...wrong side of the tracks in oh so many ways.

'Brixton and It's Environs'?, 'Anywhere but Clapham  '?

I agree, what exists or happens in the surrounding area is of interest to Brixtonites, and people who live in the surrounding areas are interested in what happens in Brixton and their own little insignificant area. :) ;)

Apart from London SE1 is there another Borough one?

Too right - I may well be moving to the Herne Hill end of Railton road. I was forcefully told by an ex resident last night that it still counts as Brixton.... so I'll still be able to use the Brixton forum. :)

Hold on, if bits of SE24 can be called Brixton, then I declare my patch of SE5 as Outer Brixton. The Brixton suburbs, if you like.

Because Camberwell sucks.

Ye Hundred of Brixton - a nice inclusive boundary allowing anyone living between Putney and Camberwell, the Borough and Crystal Palace to claim to be as much a local as though they were a regular in the Albert or the Trinity.

Apart from London SE1 is there another Borough one?I thought the ratio of read-worthy vs. pap seemed very high on Virtual Norwood (http://www.virtualnorwood.com/forum/index.php) - dead sensible and informative, I thought.

If you renamed as Lambeth etc, me and the rest of the Southwark Death Head Kommando would have to raid the Albert and takes hostages till you gave us Camberwell back
It may be a "depressing shithole" but its our, Southwarks, depressing shithole, and long may it remain so!!!:D
