I think they say 10p but they also know 10p's nothing . . . I mean, if you're going to give something, most people aren't going to give literally 10p . . .

I was walking down Brixton Hill today and some poor little kid (he was maybe 10 years-old) was absolutely freaking out and in tears with all the flying ants :D

Strangely enough, none went anywhere near me

They're probably all flying from my back garden... big plague at the moment.

Oh - re. cups of tea... just buy the person the cuppa... I prefer not to give the money, but will always buy what they want instead. That way, I know it's not going on a Carlsberg Export.

It was probably the same guy who asked me for 10p everytime i walked up or down Brixton Hill for 3 years. Annoying much?

Well then cheapskate, give them the deposit for a house and they won't need to bother you again.
;)

TBH, if I had to live on the street I can see why a beer or two would be a comfort. They're hardly going to invest the cash in a nice pair of Gucci loafers are they?

I was walking down Brixton Hill today trying to keep my glasses balanced on my head while pushing a pram, because one of the arms of my glasses just snapped off last night for no reason at all. I made tentative but steady progress towards Specsavers and salvation.

But I still need new glasses.

No flying ants today, thank God. Yesterday was almost (not really) Biblical (not at all).

You just met a time traveller. :DA 5000 year round trip and people take me for a common street alkie :(

And when I set off from 1884 I thought dressing myself in these newly-fashioned plastic bags would be soooo future ;)

Been there, done that. It's alright.

But that's a world away from expecting to know whether your huge 10p contribution will go on what you consider a worthy purchase. Christ, people on the streets have it hard enough without being expected to draw up a contract and a purchase order in triplicate for each 10p they're donated.

I'd say either give the 10p in good grace or not at all. Common sense really - I can't see why it's worked you up enough to make your start one of your first bulletin board threads on. You already think you know the answer to where your 10p might go, so why the smartarse stress?

those ants were pathetic. They didn't come anywhere near me. They obviously knew that I'd had 1 inch flying ants in Malaysia and wasn't scared of them. I'm Well 'ard ;)

In fact, for some of you men that might have a problem in the nether regions, less than a month after we returned from Malaysia I read an article in a newspaper that they'd discovered that eating these 1 inch flying ants had the same effect as Viagra. ;)

We were fuming, they're were so many of them where we were that they were literally (and I'm not exaggerating) being hoovered up

and if we'd known that a few weeks earlier, we could have brought hundreds of thousands back and become millionaires

There was a bloke standing at the entrance praying , weeping and playing wth a worry beads/cross arrangement.

I gave him a cheery grin as I left the establishment.

I thought he was going to set about me:eek:

There was one earlier this year, on the opposite side of the road, around 25 - 30 silent protesters, holding placards with images of aborted foetus and life size foetus dolls. Nice. I had a huge argument with a Priest and Nun years ago for harrassing the women going into the clinic. I fully appreciate their views and support right to protest but the manner in which they do so is no different to those godhatesfags people.

Should have said I appreicate their right to a view as opposed to appreciate their views....
