View Full Version : What's going on in Blenheim Gardens?

Anyone have any idea what is going on in / around Blenheim gardens? Earlier this morning the road was cordoned off at the junction with Brixton Hill, and there were a couple of police vans around, and quite a few ambulances too. There were more police vans parked on Endymion Road too.
On a different Blenheim gardens note, what is the 'Citadel'? Strange looking place opposite the Windmill pub? Looks odd, lots of security, big black SUV parked outside etc...

I didn't ask but it was sealed off by the police and there was a forensics tent. Didn't look good.
Not sure what the citadel is but there's a "gated community" opposite the Windmill, which would probably explain the SUV.

also in the gated place is a rather nifty green goddess firetruck refitted with flame-throwers on the roof. it's ace.

there was a tent up across the garden of one of the houses on the Windmill Pub side.
I know a family that live there but couldn't tell exactly which house was tented up.

There's lots of 4x4 in Blenheim. It's all those rich yuppies :D Citadel isn't opposite. A great big building site is opposite (more warehouse yuppy apartments)

I went to a fab squat party in those warehouses before they were apartments...

I live on Blenheim Gardens and was told that an elderly man was found collapsed in the street. Police tried to revive him but didn't succeed. They're hoping he just collapsed but have to treat it as suspicious for the moment.

It's just a residential property and the VW 4x4 is their blingmobile.
The green goddess has now gone to live in Spain. Hope it comes back as it's had a wicked firethrower added to it. The guy bought it to be a centrepiece of a tiny Burning Man type festie.

So are we saying that Citadel is nothing suspicious at all? Not a extraordinary rendition centre (as opposed to ordinary rendition centre), not a secret recording studio for P Diddy, and not part of Bush's new missile defense system? Shame really.
There are lots of other odd buildings round there, especially on Waterworks road (well, the ones that aren't warehouse churches that is). Maybe they are suspicious? Any conspiracy theorists out there? What about the control centre for London's traffic lights? That is supposed to be deeply secret and strategically very important....

er, Waterworks Road is the NEXT road up. Well, there's the Windmill, and the er, waterworks ;)

All still taped off when I drove past at about midday.....! On a slightly different note, has anyone noticed the girls (young teenagers) that hang around by the shops (usually around midnight) with the Staffs (dogs not sticks)? They are starting to freak me out a bit. It seems that the dog is being trained for a fairly violent life. The girls are quite often trying to encourage the dog to attack people. At the moment the dog seems very friendly and ignores the kicks that it gets to try n rile it. What should I do? I know the police wn't come if I call them and I don't want to confront them myself, thereby letting them know which front door belongs to me. I love staffs and can't bare to think what this one is going to become.

Can you ring an animal welfare group?
I've heard on Blenheim Gardens Estate there's dog fights. Can't confirm the rumours though

Well done Minnie, just been on the phone to the RSPCA. Don't suppose there is a lot that can be done, but they did say they'd report it to their local inspectors.

Hm, not sure if they'll have inspectors hanging round Brixton Hill at midnight :D
and as for the dog fights, I did say they were ONLY rumours that I'd heard. I don't go over there to see if the rumours are true

i had a similar experience last month.
i was walking me english pass that chicken shop opposite the white horse when this staffie popped out of nowhere.
and like most staffies, it was pretty friendly and i started stroking it.
then his owner - some light skin kid with shitty gold teeth - comes rushing out and repeatedly kicks the dog!
i said there was no need for it.
but he just ignored me.
fuckin' cock.

I didn't bring up the dog fights for that reason. However, when the girls have done their hanging around and appear to be heading off home, that is the direction that they all go.

They're hoping he just collapsed but have to treat it as suspicious for the moment.
"Unexplained" is usually the more accurate description - the media like to know "Is it a murder enquiry?" or "Is it suspicious?" when for the first few hours (or even a couple of days) the answer is "We don't know" (the Post Mortem frequently, but not always, provides the answer). Until that stage, everything is treated as unexplained and, hence, possibly suspicious. In that phase things which can't be secured, to be dealt with later if necessary, have to be done ... and external scenes invariably fall in that category.
Huge amounts of time and effort are nowadays put into examining scenes which later turn out not to be necessary, but that is better than not doing it and finding out a day later that it was suspicious and having no scene to examine!

You don't know that at all - there may already be other things known to them that your bit adds to and generates action.
It is unlikely that they'll arrive with lights flashing but they undoubtedly WILL enter it in their intelligence system just in case it now, or later, links with anything else. e-mail the local neighbourhood team (from the Lambeth page on the Met website) with what you know. If things change (e.g. the dog starts getting more aggressive), e-mail them (or ring in with) the update.

People were asking about The Citadel. I asked around. It is a private residence but years ago it used to be auction rooms.

These glass block windows are the ones that look out over Windmill Gardens aren't they though? I'm confused. I was assuming there'd be more than one dwelling in the building.

yes...31 BG is that block of eight flats overlooking Windmill Park or whatever it's called
oh how we laughed when people were buying them 3 years ago for £350K for a an empty shell. turns out it was a shrewd investment

and surprise surprise, before that it belonged to the Salvation Army. I always figured that must be the case but got confirmation of it today
The Staffs are being used to fight. One guy was walking his dog when he was attacked by some of them on Branksome Road about a year ago. Kids ran off. RSPCA won't do anything but the cops may. Google the police Safer Neighbourhood Team for that ward (Brixton Hill) for an email address and mobile number and even if they don't do anything it will be noted and if there's enough reports something will be done. They also can cruise past in a car and have a word with them.
They train the dogs on the rubber seats of the swings in Windmill Park, making them hang from the seat by their teeth to strengthen their grip. You can see the ragged edges of the seats. Sometimes they get them to bite on sticks and hold the dog off the ground with it. I've seen this at Windmill and in other parks too.
The citadel is now a residence. Don't know if it was used as a name by them exclusively but Salvation Army churches were called Citadels.
