Blimey. Whereabouts? Hope the passengers are okay...

Right on the junction with Brixton Water Lane, on the Northbound side of the road...i.e heading towards Brixton.

The roof / driver seat didn't look caved in....the police were there, couldn't see any other vehicle or signs of destruction...but to go right over must have taken quite a smash or speed.

I went past just after it happened and a lorry with a crane on the back was to blame. Looked like a clamping lorry tried to lift the vehicle onto the back and completely dropped it upside down.

The lorry driver will be hoping he has decent insurance I would wager.

Ooops!
Glad to hear it wasn't a bad crash, or a crime related incident (give or take a parking offence!)

Doh! Glad it wasn't a proper smash...

Do you think they'll let the owner off their parking ticket?

They probably gave it another ticket for obstruction.

Remember: This is the council whose traffic wardens slapped a ticket on a moped on it's side in the road by the town hall.

Whilst the owner was being treated by paramedics for a broken leg after being hit by a car.

  :D

Not the same council that ticketed and later towed away a car bomb though.

Thank fuck! Could you imagine if they'd dropped that on it's roof??

I'm not sure there's a lot to choose between Westminster (who's wardens did that) and Lambeth (who's residents nicked the holdall in which the Brixton bomb was ... ) ... :D

Well, thats not actually what happened, but lets not let the truth get in the way of a good joke...

Really? I'd always thought the bag was stolen, and the brave young lad from the fruit and veg stall then placed the tupperware box with the bomb in it inside the big palladin bin next to Iceland.

I thought so too.
The story told in the Guardian was that people at the No 3 Bus Stop decided that the bag was suspicious, since it was ticking and had visible wires, so someone moved it onto pallets outside iceland.
Then someone took the bomb ut of the bag and made off with the bag - which wa a name-branded sports bag (but I forget which brand).

Finally, the manager of Iceland called the police and tried to evacuate the area.

IIRR the bomb which was left in East London / brick lane area as part of the same sick campaign had a bucket of water poured on it by a man who then put it in the boot of his car and drove it to the police station.

There was certainly some brave moving of the package by someone from the market who wasn't happy with it ... but there was also some nicking of the bag! I'm not sure but I think it may have been returned a day or two later when it was realised that it may be an important clue (and the bomber was hardly likely to pursue an allegation of theft!)
