What kind of crazy nu-Lambeth council doublespeak is this:

Brixton attracts more than its fair share of media attention, partly because of its reputation for vibrant challenging, multicultural and diverse communities. But also because of the testing social issues experienced by the people who live, work and play here.

Coldharbour Ward, one of the most deprived areas in the country, boasts international appeal for racial and cultural diversity.

Now I love living in Brixton but I'm not sure that I agree that Coldharbour Ward "boasts international appeal" for anything.... :D

Vibrant, challenging: Estate agents' speak for "you can get mugged by people of over 40 different nationalities".

Is it the challenging part that you object to? Brixton's routinely described in such ways, vibrant, lively etc etc - challenging is maybe a bit off though..

You're not far off. My mate is an estate agent in Islington and he told me he describes a place as 'lively' if you have to run to your door as quick as you can from the bus stop. He is a rich tory boy from Petersfield though, canny lad, but on a different planet.

Challenging = the place is fucked up and you wont live long if you stick around.

That's what's called the "Brixton Challenge".

You can time it and see if you can beat your personal best.

It's the lack of a comma between 'vibrant' and challenging' that gets me. ;)
