Were there ever queues?

Yes, and there still are in lots of places.

Just not at bus stops in the borough of lambeth.

I don't think I've ever joined a queue for a bus in the fifteen years I've been living in London

People used to queue in the 70's and 80's.

In Ldn people queue for ATMs out across the pavement, in everyones way.

Where I am from we used to hug the wall.

I find this extraordinarily odd and it's the only thing that makes me want to go 'wtf?' in peoples faces like a loonatic.

I see queuing in shops still, plus pushy young gits trying to shove in front of everyone else. Sometimes they get pulled up for it, so there is still some expectation that you should join the queue and wait your turn.

No such thing at most bus stops here in LB Lewisham tho esp on New Cross Road, where it is just a scrum. But lots of different bus routes call at those stops.

there is this one bus stop on my bus route in hackney where people queue all the way down the street, single file. it is really fucking odd as i have never seen anyone queue for a bus in the 10 years i have lived in london. except here. odd. i think they think they're better than the rest of us, or summat ;)

Isn't this why there is no point or need to queue at London bus stops as there are usually loads of different bus routes and people are waiting for different routes?

There is no point standing in a queue behind someone who is getting a different bus

Bus queues are pointless because it's a complete lottery as to where the bus will actually stop.

which bus is it?

I used to notice that on one side of finsbury park ie going towards hackney 106 etc there was no queue, not even a bundle, more of a hundle and scrum while on the OTHER side of finsbury park ie going towards crouch end there was always a single file line

I suspect it can all be explained by race or class.
