View Full Version : Berkshire accommodation?
Is this the right forum? Geography ain't my strong point :D
My son is playing chess at Wellington College in July and I'd thought I could stay at my Dad's house in Bungay ( see, geography AIN'T my strong point! ) but it's 3 hrs away. So, I need to find accommodation and I don't know which town/city would be closest for decent accommodation
I guess we'll get the train to Reading or I might drive - dunno yet.

There's a Premier Travel Inn in Bracknell. Bracknell is on the train route from Reading to Waterloo, and is about 3 or 4 miles from Crowthorne and the college.
Or you can come and stay with me - cheaper
Bless yer socks :) That's a really sweet offer.

Wellington College is in Crowthorne, which is near enough to Reading to be sensible. Other local towns are: Sandhurst, Wokingham, Bracknell (as mentioned). If you're not driving then Bracknell - Crowthorne is a bit tricky because you'll have to get the train into Reading and then back out again to Crowthorne. Wokingham and Sandhurst are on the same train line to Crowthorne, which might be a bit more convenient.
I come from Wokingham and can point you towards some local b & bs if you like.

You too? Blimey - there's bloody hundreds of us on this board :D
(well at least five that I know of)
I come from nearby. Well Farnborough.
Was in Molly Millars the other day as it happens. Wokingham's a lovely town but that is one shit pub.

What on earth did you go in there for? It even looks shit from the outside (although is handy if you're waiting for a train I suppose)

if you drive, reading is less than an hour drive from my place.
Thanks guys :) At the moment I'm trying to get his father to take him as it always seems to fall to me. He lives just over the river from Bristol so it would probably only take him an hour or so wouldn't it?

I was going to a wedding in some hotel there...I went to the pub until someone with an invite on them could let me know where I was meant to be going!
Madzone - I reckon it's a bit less than 2 hours up the M4 from Bristol.
