you do have to give them your address.....
I got mine for free from two local newsagents, but they know where to find me should I use it for purposes contrary to ken's evil plans
oh, well ignore me then. i know nothing :D
There was something in the paper today about how when you swipe your Oyster in, get to the platform, find that it's too busy/it's the wrong type of air in the tunnel etc and there's no trains and you go back out, unless it's within 15 minutes you'll get £8 taken off your Oyster..I fucking hate Oyster:mad:

I paid 3 quid for my Oyster card the other day, but I didn't fill in a form, because you don't have to do that unless you want to update it online, and I don't want them tracking my journeys, thank you very much!
If you go for the free option you link, you have to give them your details.

you don't have to let them know where you live just go to your local newsagent. you don't have to use the internet for everything, you know. just go for a little walk, sometimes.

we didn't have to pay the £3 deposit when we got our oysters at the newsagents.

ah. it's not only me, then. you fools are getting robbed by the oyster people and giving them your addresses. before you know, you'll be paying them to know what to eat for breakfast.

easy. you get up from your bed. put some clothes on, not just because of the weather, but some people might be upset to see your bollocks/fanny too, check for door keys. then proceed to forwardly advance by putting a leg in front of the other until you find a newsagent to get your oyster card. if you think about it, that is exactly what you do to get to the bus stop, in fact there are often newsagent at bus stops, so you could do both at the same time, cut down your electricity bill, save the planet and keep your address secret.

I shall print off this instruction guide to help with this long forgotten task
(You've told me how to get to the newsagent but not how to get back!)

Mine arrived on Thursday.
Exactly one day after I spent £8 to go from Waterloo to Knightsbridge - one way cos I decided to walk back.
Mine first tube journey in months.
£8
I fucking hate the tube.
And Oyster.

Bought a Zone 1 return ticket = £8
Only used it one way, cos it was a nice day and I hate the tube.
I suspect you were charged the £8 because you didn't swipe on your way out.
