View Full Version : Tattoists?
I know where I want my backpiece/cover up done, but if I take what I want done on my foot in I think they might laugh. It's not really his style of stuff you see... :D
Can anyone recommend a tattooist who'll do a small piece (about 3x2") from a design I've made?
TY :)

I know Delilah at Eclipse at 204 Camden High Street 020 7482 4258 - always seems busy there and my friend has had loads of bits and pieces done there (last one two days ago!). She seems willing to discuss all sorts of special requests!
Bit more detail in middle of page on link.

Ta!
Will look them up thanks.
What is it with some tattoo parlours and snobbery? If they don’t like your design they aren’t really interested.
It stopped me getting mine done at what is known as one of the best places in Cardiff.
I ended up at this other guy’s place who admitted he’d do anything the client wanted whether he thought it was crap or good.
Some guy came in with his own designs that he was trying to sell and wanted his opinion and he said I can do that for you but I don’t want to buy it and gave him a price. When he left he said “my 14 month son can draw better than that but if that’s what he wants I’ll do it for him”.
Not the most assuring chat whilst we were half way through mine but it is the right attitude really.
Mine doesn't look like a tattoo tbh. But thats why I like it. I don't like green ink tattoos tbh. Ink technology has advanced so why is that retro look of the faded from black to green so popular with tattooists?
Well I emailed into you and they said it was exactly the kind of thing they'd do so there you go!! :D
They don't allow any use of numbing creams though and I have to say I'm pretty much bricking it about that :(
oh fuck it zenie, no pain no gain girl :D

seems entirely fair if that's how they choose to operate. There's levels of tattoo art i guess - the Camden knock-em-out places (not implying the aforementioned Camden parlour is one, btw) who have a high turnover, are pretty cheap and do what you ask.
And then there are those who depend on a good 'rep' among the tattoo community, charge more, are more specialised (in terms of style etc) and pick and choose their projects.
What's wrong with that?

mines on the heel bit, just under your ankle bone that sticks out? if you know what i mean? hurt like fuck coz of all the nerve endings round there (i didnt know about them when i decided to get it done there) he just held my foot tight (more to stop it jolting where he was hitting nerves etc than me pulling it away - it never occurred to me i could pull it away :( :D )
you'll be fine

It's gonna be about 3x2" on the top flat bit of your foot between your toe and your leg.
I'll show you the design later but I'm not gonna have it done for a bit. ;)

Well the way I see it you get rep from two things.
1. Being able to come up with good designs.
2. Having a steady hand so that you trace those designs exactly.
If its my design and he carries off number 2 then his reputation is intact. I’m going to tell everyone he was brill and I’m bound to brag that it was my own design so he’ll get no blame for that.

it's still wrapped up and far from finished!
(deja vu?)

I had my last one on my foot, on the inside just above the arch of my instep and I was really worried about the same thing being a proper wuss. You can buy topical numbing creams from the pharmacists though for a couple of quid a tube and apply them yourself which is what I did. Think I might have the brand name scribbled down somewhere if you want, but you can get them otc without any problems.

Did you tell your tattooist what you'd done?
I'm worried it'll fuck up the tat  :(

not pm's (phone) and not rude :D
I'll post up a pic when I've unwrapped it - it's japanese flowers and waves.
a mate of mine recommended using the numbing cream, but like you zenie, I'm a bit worried about how it would affect the tatoo, but it probably doesn't!

Yeah, he knows me quite well and is well aware that I'm nervous subject at the best of times. It's no different to putting moisturiser on your skin as far as they are concerned. Any excess cream can be wiped from the skin before you get your tat done.

they are just down the road from my house - another urban has used them recently and the results looked good - might give em a go for the next one.
hurry up with them pics, tanky!

she's posted them in the tattoos thread in general :)

Hi Z. I'm the person with the flames on the foot tatt.
It's not terribly painful on the foot but then again - I've not had one anywhere else to compare it to... THis was Dave at the Blue Dragon in Brighton about 6 years ago. I explained what I wanted and he seemed like he thought it was quite cool, drew it on, we didn't like it, so he drew it on again and we did.
Best thing was when he gave it a good wipe to see what he was doing & we both looked and said 'Oooh, looking good!' just as three different spouts of blood gushed up
One thing I'll say - the fucker is wearing off right down the side where it rubs against my shoe. I imagine it's about the only place where a tatt will rub off :( If that place you go to is good, let me now as I need re-doing :)
