Off to Honkers in a couple of weeks and also in the market for a digital camera.
Does anyone know if stuff like that is significantly cheaper over there?
Ta.

If you tell me the models/specs you're interested in, I may be able to dig out some comparisons for you.
But given that it's generally quite competitive for that stuff out here and the fact that the HKD is pegged to the USD and, hence is on the floor at the moment vis-a-vis Sterling, I reckon you should be onto a winner.
Fancy a few beers (and a spliff or two)?
:)

Didn't know you were there.
I'll research the camera I'm after over the weekend and get back to you.
And a beer + spliff sounds like a great idea :)

The exchange rate is @ GBP 1:00 = HKD 15:30.

Cheers for that, guess I'll be buying one over there.
I don't know how long I'm there for. I've got to attend a dinner on 25th May, but should be hanging around for a few days either side.
I should find out more details on Monday.

I found it pretty pricey when I was there, same as UK on pretty much everything.. more expensive on the little things actually.

Well, the models in their shops are probably ahead of ours.. so even if they're the same price levels, you might be getting a better kit.

I got a cheaper deal on the t'internet over here, my suggestion is to search on Pricerunner or kelkoo for the item you want before you go. If you can find it cheaper, then buy it in HK, (obv.) . Also remember if its from HK and it breaks you'll be fucked coz the guarantee will not cover you back home.

Hmmmmmm.
I guess that globalisation, international travel, free-trade and t'internet have eroded margins around the world.
Good for consumers of electronics I suppose.
:)
Oh well, at least beer and spliff are reasonably priced.
