Can any frequent flyers help me?

Not in my experience, I'd join a Frequent Flyer Program and try and fly with one Airline for every flight.

I was once going to take my own stamp to the airport and stamp "upgrade" on my boarding pass, but never had the balls to.

I used to get upgrades quite frequently.

1. Always use the same airline. Be a frequent customer.

2. Dress like a nice/ineffectual nobody person.

3. Time your check-in so that all the cheap seats have been taken.


Remember one embarrassing time when I got moved ahead of Four other people and into business class when they were told the flight was overbooked. Got sat next to some very successful US business guy. He then invited me to go and stay in his holiday home in the Catskills for a few days and consequently offered me a job setting up his new offices in Boston (job I didn't take).

I never really look for upgrades. They just seemed to come my way.
