I went to the zoo today and it was ace. The new Gorilla Kingdom is great and I got to look straight into the eyes of this beautiful creature, which seemed as interested in us as we were in her. I also saw some cheeky squirrel monkeys, an uncharacteristically lively sloth, some tiny chattering silvery marmosets which escaped onto the walkway, looking up a lady's skirt and pulling on my trouser leg and, best of all, a giraffe being fed a banana sandwich. Oh and those ever watchful meerkats were cool too. Anyone else been recently?

We were off to there about a week or so ago but we didn't turn up till about half three . It shut at five and we thought if we were going to pay £16 each that we'd make a day of it and come back later.

I loves the zoo, was gonna get the cabbage to do one of those "be a zoo keeper for a day" type presents but it was just so expensive

i run past there and it always seems a bit out of date. zoos seem a thing of the past for me, not that i am dead against them, just that they seem a bit out of place in the 21st century. must be my constant exposure to pcness from a young age.

yeah, it makes sense to me bluey, nice to share the cuteness with someone innit.

I'm going to make a list of things I should do in london - first entry, london zoo

actually it's shameful how little I've seen here, and I've lived here nearly four years

Well I went on my own - wanted to bring my nephew but his dad wanted to be the first to take him. Didn't want any adults coming with me to slow me down and annoy me

I took my nephew. He moaned most of the way round

Incidentally you can get two for one deals if you travel on the tube or train - google 2 for 1 train or something similar

I went years ago and couldn't believe how shit it was. Didn't see a sloth, the aquarium was in the middle of a refurb. Didn't see any penguins. The gorilla looked miserable as shit. Didn't see kimodo dragon.

I was well disappointed :(

Paignton Zoo in Devon is lovely. Like a woodland walk with cool animals.

i have just checked the zoo in my hometown darmstadt

Tierbestand: 750 Tiere in 150 Arten

4.50 euro entry for adults.

so i think i will give london zoo a miss of a lifetime! (sorry for being an arse but i am fed up of getting ripped of/priveliged only wealthy people around here)

Yep - that's good value I think

i appreciate it might be a nice zoo.

however if i go to other nice zoos in other places i get it for a fraction of the price so hence i will not go to the london zoo.

same with the lido (£5 ffs who/which family can afford that).

i guess one would have to wait for a special offer if with kids like the one trashpony pointed out.

i do love zoos btw. it is the entry price that makes me angry!

£16 is nothing for a whole day of watching amazing creatures - you won't regret it! I bet those zoos are a lot smaller than London Zoo

to get best value for money its better to go in the summer when the opening hours are longer, and to go from opening to close (like LDR said).

apparently you gat a badge with a monkey on it that says 'thanks' when you go, that alone is worth £16 in my book :D

you might be right. plus at the moment i can afford even to go to a london zoo. is it really that big though? (i once passed by on a walk on the canal). however i pitty a family with 3 kids. i vividly remember zoo visits in my childhood. i think we must have gone various times in a year.

however all prices from parking ticket,to zoos via rail and other monthly transport tickets are all majorly overprized and it does my head in. arggghhhhh!

I'm not particularly anti Zoo but don't go to Chessington, I was recommended it because of the animals but then read this:

Yes, Chessington World Of Queues should really give up any pretence it has that it is a zoo. The 'zoo' there is kinda perfunctory now and just secondary to the rides - it should be closed.

We last went to London Zoo over ten years ago. We really enjoyed it, we were very stoned at the time. We got to see a bird of prey demonstration and a close up tour with the spiders. Good Fun.

However, we then went for a walk round some of the pet shops in Camden and found that to be just as interesting, what with the snakes and things. Plus it was free.

The best zoo I've ever been to has to be Berlin Zoo. it puts London Zoo to shame IMHO.

London Zoo's shit.

You spend the whole visit recovering from the shagging you've had at the turnstiles.

It hasn't got any elephants.

It's sterile as fuck.

Howletts Zoo is far, far better. And you may get to see a keeper getting eaten by a tiger

Though I did see a sloth scratch it's arse at London Zoo, considering the hardly ever move a muscle, it was like double

ive been to the zoo quite a ew ties and i goign again in may, its a good ay out, theres enough there to fill a day and if you take the boat along the river if drops you right in the middle of the zoo and its th eperfect way to start the expedition
i went from caden lock so the boat ride wasnt very far but you can do longer journeys i think
