Anyone else fancy celebrating The Bard's birthday in silence?

Come and watch from Bankside as images from the past light up the white walls of the theatre. Films include A Midsummer Night's Dream, Twelfth Night and The Merchant of Venice.

Films will be accompanied by a score by composer Laura Rossi performed live by Laura Rossi and Fourth Dimension string quartet.

Do the first one if you want.

But definitely do the second one if you're considering it at all! The Shakespeare's birthday celebrations I've been to at the Globe have been some of the best days I've ever had. Being able to 'perform' on the stage is one of the best bits; my daughter has been on stage the past two years, and the year before last I had my EFL students up there; one did the balcony speech in both English and Korean (at the host's request).

Well-organised, well-thought-out, friendly, fun and free. The only thing is that it's getting more well-known, so arrive early for the best bits.

Me and some friends are going to the screening of Monty Python and the Holy Grail in Trafalgar Sq. but we're hoping we can make it back for at least some of the Globe screenings :)

Might also be going to the Globe during the day though.
