View Full Version : help!! trying to organise a country getaway for a bunch of blokes
my friend is getting married but he doesn't want yr typical stag
weekend to prague type thing.
He doesn't want to "cross any water" and
he doesn't want to party on down in some city nightspot.
He wants a refreshing getaway in a nice remote spot
in Britain with old woodlands and I guess somwhere we can camp
out have a fire and be relatively private and not piss people off.
There would be about ten of us.
Any ideas????
Gratefully received as I haven't had time to organise this
and I'm panicking a bit,.,

Why don't you hire a narrowboat? I'm a bit biased, but it's easy, loads of fun and involves camping and coutryside.
http://www.leevalleyboats.co.uk/boatslee2.htm (http://www.leevalleyboats.co.uk/boatslee.htm) These people are good and the Lee and Stort rivers are really pretty, with lots of canalside pubs for you to visit. You can moor almost anywhere you like at night, we tend to pick somewhere quiet where we can have a campfire.
thanks, I'll have a look at that
Would you want to do dirt biking/ quad biking/ paint ball or any activities?

A weekend in Prague is typical?! I thought most people went to Blackpool or some such.
Lots of places to camp in the country - where are you near?
Have you considered Wales?
Lots of isolated cottages for hire where you can do a lot of what you are after..plus a few activities if you want - quadbiking looks:cool:
Pick Hay-on-wye in October and go shroomin';)

A cautionary tale... (http://www.urban75.net/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=4745695&postcount=72) :D :o
The Lake District.
Mountains, lakes, activities, camp sites on every corner, a pub on every other corner.
I'm not really clued up on the nightlife in the lakes but I'm always hearing of things going down in sketchy nightclubs and the like (it seems the bored villagers are keen on a rave or two). Seek and ye shall find.
