That sounds loads of fun! I keep missing it, every year.....

It does sound like we're going to have a mediterranean weekend though, so whether the kites will be able to get up will be interesting...

This was ace. Specially once I'd figured out that my £3 charity shop kite actually did have all the rods and flew like a bastard too.

Amazing. I walked towards the Common up Greyhound Lane and the sky was full of of kites moving about - from a distance they looked like the opening scenes of Hitchcock's The Birds

And the Roast Hog stall was pretty good. Shame about the crapness of the beer tent.

It was brilliant fun! And I believe that people are still talking about my manful "pulling" on Ruby Toogood's triplane kite.

Twas a good day alright....just hope the Council send some cleaners round to sort the Common out. Why peopel can't take stuff home with them, seeing as they all seemed to come by car amazes me.

Good day for traffic wardens too judging by the penaltty notices given to every twat who parked on the pavement :D

it was great.

through skilful manipulation my kite flirted with danger several times (trees and a rather evil looking pterodactyal kite) but emerged unscathed.

I bought a kite but had to put it away in the end through fear of killing a small child!

Everyone seemed to have very sedate kites which were fluttering sedately in the sky - and then there was mine ferociously darting here there and everywhere and plummeting towards the ground at breakneck speed.

I can't wait to try it out somewhere with a bit more space though....

And that giant octopus kite! Never seen *anything* like that. When it started coming down, it was like Cthulu was coming to eat us all.

:D I reckon it must've been braindancer then who tried to kill me as I attempted to make my way across the common :D

Wish I'd known you were all up there. Me and EastEnder went up to the common and had a little picnic whilst trying not to get hit by a kite or small child flying a kite or parent of a flock of small children attempting to fly a kite.

There is no point in going to Streatham Kite Day and not expecting to be hit by a kite or get tangled up in a flying line. It's all about being divebombed by homicidal kites.

For me, the best bit of the day was when everyone I knew had gone home and I ended up flying my kite with a random small boy. I've never seen such utter joy in a person.

It was ace! A real little snapshot of community- people enjoying the sunshine and their kids' laughter together. Lovely.

I'm annoyed I missed it last year now- and only about 2 mins walk from my front door too! I saw the editor looking a bit bemused, but didn't say hello.

I was there, drinking cheap champagne, all very bourgeois.

I think I saw a huge flying penguin. Either that or I was tripping.

I would've taken some, but somebody (mentioning no names, etc...) forgot to remind me to take my camera....

It's so terribly hard finding good quality staff these days......:(

Bet the kids loved that dragon kite.
