Anyone know a good one round Brixton/Streatham way?

Looking to get the car done in the next week or so, but don't want to go to some fly by night place.

I use Hearn Bros on Brixton Hill next door to the White Horse. I'm not sure that they are the cheapest place but they are reasonable and above all trust worthy. I took my car in recently thinking that the head gasket had blown and told them so - this could cost hundreds to fix but it turned out to be a minor thing and cost me about £80. They could have easily conned me, but they have always been extremely professional.

Hope that helps.

I used the one under the arches by The Falcon near Clapham Nth. Seemed nice, didn't have to make an appointment.

I know them. I used them when i lived in clapham a few years ago. They changed a setting on my choke, and the car wouldn't start. Took me ages to figure out what was happening.

In the end I got a motor buff from oop north (where i come from) to look at it. He said everyone in the trade knew that model had to have the choke left at the setting it was on, even though its apparently not a normal one. In the meantime I couldn't get my car started for 3 months.

Actually, just re read this and i think i might be thinking of a different garage. I'm thinking of one opposite the Railway pub nearby (voltaire road?).

Yeah that's a good one.
Another option is the Shell Garage on Croxted Road. As it's connected to a 24 hour petrol station you can leave the car in and pick it up at any time! Never used them for an MOT but they did a quick rewiring job for me and charged a sensible price when they could have easily fobbed me off with a new alternator.

I (and all my mates) use leigham autos, leigham avenue (up the side of blockbusters oppposite taylors) streatham. Great bloke will not rip you off. If he can fix it on the cheap he will. google their no.

Spanglechick took her car to a place on the Mahatma Ghandi industrial estate just before Christmas. They did it while we waited, were pretty professional about it and then fixed the things that needed doing straight away. I think she may have got a discount for cash as well.

2nd recommendation for Hearn Bros- they made national press as one of the best small garages a couple of years ago.

Croxted Motors - nice people, good service, fair price. Also a good place to buy a used motor, if the number of stickers in the backs of people's cars round there are anything to go by!

Ha ha...i seem to have aquired a Croxted Motors sticker on my number plate after I left it in there to get fixed. Canny busines people too then, but I was happy with the job they did and their prices at the pump always seem to be the cheapest around.
