This is the road that comes off of Landor Road, isn't it? I often see heavy-looking types hanging out on the corner of Fenwick Place and Landor Road when I'm on my way to my barber (Andy, top man!)

Horrible, a terrible waste of life. :(

Walking from Clapham North down Landor Road towards Stockwell/Brixton, Fenwick is first or second on the right, just before the estate starts.

It has become lawless around there since my dad got put away. Street dealing has increased by 66%.

I read somewhere that the boy was half white, half Thai, so where does this fit into the black-on-black shootings?

Sorry if this sounds silly, I'm only a newbie after all, but how was your dad reducing street dealing by 66%?

His Dad provided a public service much loved in South London.

The street dealers were frightened of him so couldn't ply their trade on Landor Road in case he caught them.

Now he is locked up, they can do what they like. The police don't seem to do much to stop them.

As someone who lived on Landor rd before and after the green leaf I can say 100 per cent that is a lie!

It is worse on Landor Road and in other areas now though. The closure of the GL meant that the activity became more displaced and cut-throat ime.

It's certainly rough round there. A friend of mine (girl) was beaten unconscious for her handbag near the hospital at around christmas time. When you walk through there are lots of dark places, and it can seem intimidating.

Yeah, I only remember kids at the start of Landor Rd (near Clapham North station) trying to sell weed when the Greenleaf was open.

What is a lie?

You think street dealing didn't increase after the closure of the Greenleaf?

I will admit that street dealing did still go on whilst the Greenleaf was open and did get troublesome at times, but it most certainly did increase hugely after Errol left the area. I should know, we had a house opposite as well as running the takeaway.

I can vouch for that, I'm always having to run a near-gauntlet of street dealers on the way to Andy's these days.

Actual colour is largely irrelevant now - Op Trident targets gun / youth / gang / drug-related / black victim & suspect crime but any one (or more) of those features may be absent in a particular case.

For the record there is nothing particularly different about how Op Trident go about their investigations. As a reactive murder enquiry, it is structured and pursued in exactly the same way as any other murder. All that has been done is that rather than all such murders being spread ad hoc around all the other 27 MITs (Major Investigation Teams) in London, they are assigned to Op Trident because it was realised that this would (a) permit better intelligence use (there are (sadly) ample examples of todays suspect becoming tomorrows victim) enabling patterns to be seen and links to be made far more quickly and (b) there was a significant advantage to be had in having better community links where both suspects and victims appeared to come from the same community and where murders were happening disproportionately often in that community.

When Op Trident teams are too busy to take on a new enquiry, an "ordinary" murder team will be assigned the case (albeit with support on intelligence and community liaison). Where other teams are too busy and Op Trident has spare capacity (this doesn't really happen except in theory!) they may take on a "normal" murder. Sometimes an enquiry has been progessed some way before it is found that it should be assigned to Op Trident (or vice versa) - in such cases the presumption is usually that it will stay with the team which have it but occasionally it may be transferred (usually only at a suitable stage (e.g. when a review is to be commenced or whatever "new" activity is to be started).
