I'm travelling to Thailand in a couple of weeks and want to initially stay in ao nang for at least a week. Does anybody have any advice about cheap(ish) places to stay around there?
Try Bernie's, if his prices have gone up there are a whole load of others right by there.

leave it, it's a wank hole.
Although I had a nice place for 600 baht air con nice settting but well out of ao nang a good half hour walk. Not advisable for a young lady...if you are that is.

Although if you go up to the irish pub and go a few meter further up the hill you will find a place that is nice. Dunno what it is called though. or if they have German porn but they do have satelite tv.

Sod Ao Nang, get a longboat round to Rai Lei beach. Its well nice and relaxed there.

There are 2 now, O'Malley's have opened another bar there, guessing you mean the Irish Rover or whatever it's called.

I remember now krabi fasi! It's half hour walk or a free ride into towen and back by the lodgings.
600 baht for a silent air con room spotless AND no tv! oh and warm water :)

I stayed at a place there as well, but can't remember what it was called. Had a backdrop of a limestone cliff.
Owner gave free lifts to town and he'd pick you up when you called him. The place only had maybe 8 little bungalows but I think he was planning on building more.
It was a bit "pink" for my liking but was spotlessly clean

Hehe, I remember that... that was a nasty time though, Songkran, many places full.
Loads of accomodation there, just turn up and walk about. I quite like the place, although it's only good for a night or two, nowt more.

Yup but I was too much in heaven with the aircon to notice the decor.

Please tell me you remember the name of the place.
I'm sure it had the name "mountain" and "ao nang" in it but I can't find it anywhere

Krabi Fasi Resort :)
Bingo! I found it. Looks like the same one, but when I was there there were only maybe 8 bungalows. He was planning on building more and he was planning on building a swimming pool so I'm not sure if this is the place but it looks like it. (It was in 2001 I went)
