I did Yoga on Holidays once - wasn't a yoga holiday, though.
Get a cheap flight to Goa if you can cope with all the pseudo spiritual hippie wankers, there's still some relatively untouched corners, and there's always some decent yoga instruction around once you get there, and accomodation is dirt cheap. I'd recommend going to Patnem Beach in Goa, as it's fucking lovely.
For a more structured (and expensive) option:

Bakhti Kutir is an excellent eco resort on the headland between Patnem and palolem beaches in Southern Goa.

Thanks for the info.

I have been to Goa and stayed in Palolem but didn't do yoga there. It's such a lovely place so might consider going back there.

A yoga holiday, it's in the thread title. Sorry I didn't make myself very clear.

Kerala is good for more organised yoga retreats, like 2 weeks. There is a Shivananda centre in Trivadrum.

Purple Valley in north Goa has good receommendations.

I stayed Patnem/Palolem and didn't find much to call it a 'yoga holiday'.

Depends if you want intense or just a class a day and more relaxing beachy stuff.

When I was in Patnem there was an Ayengar Yoga school near the beach that did morning classes or week or fortnight long intensive courses.
There was also the Bhakti Kutir place around the corner on the headland batween Patnem and Palolem I linked to that organises proper yoga holidays.

I did some amazing yoga in Varkala. :) But then... I'm no yoga expert, but it made me feel amazing afterwards. It's an incredibly beautiful place too, the beaches are incredible.
What's the name of the place where you can do a full on retreat thing, stay in a monastery - where you can't see members of the opposite sex for a week, or mix with town folk, or drink, and stuff. I considered that - *briefly*. :D
I think it's in Kerala somewhere...

My ex raved about Yoga School Dropout (http://www.yogaschooldropout.com/) as an entertaining guide to yoga in India.
There seem to be yoga schools everywhere here...
