About 1.00 I went past the bit of grass at the corner of St. Matthew's Road and Brixton Hill and there was a totally bashed up car on it. It appeared to have crashed in from a southerly direction and knocked down one of the brick gate pillars.

Fuck's sake! How many more crashes are gonna happen on Brixton Hill before something is done? Why are there so many crashes there anyway?

A couple of years ago we narrowly avoided being squashed by a fucking massively speeding dickhead who lost control of his car on Brixton Hill and smashed into a shop front.

Stupid cunt injured himself badly too, so no doubt we'd all have to pay for the twat's hospital bills.

Actually I believe the insurance company have to stump up if it's an RTA....

It may be connected with this incident though.....

For what?
The quality of being an observer, surely? :)

Like efficiency, the quality of being able to fish. In the sea. This is a poor joke, why did I start?

because its a long straight dagerously deceptive bit of road, but thats not really the reason. the real reason is because people speed.

this particular crash i believe everyone walked away alright (cant remember its been a long week).

i do think its a bit slack that the car is STILL there and nobodys bothered to even pick up the loose bits. perhaps they are leaving it as a bit modern art.

waits to find out whether observation is also incorrect......

As I've said before, I tried getting up a petition about getting a pedestrian crossing opposite the White Horse for people going across to Poison Alberts and the Indian takeaways. Was told it wouldn't work as Alberts and the Locksmith place had protested about cars being able to park etc.

Sod the cars anyway, what about the pedestrians? :o

it took far too many kids getting squished leaving sudbourne school going to the st matthews estate before they out the crossing in there.

the stretch from belnheim gardens to BWL is a large one with no pedestrian crossing and that has to be dangerous.

There's a massive road near South Tottenham Station (A10?) that has loads of pedestrian crossings...at least one being the best kind..pedestrian presses button, light changes to amber straight away....it's just as busy as the A23 so I see no reason why there shouldn't be more crossings if it's good enough for North London......

I'm on the hill, not far from the white horse and I can't believe the amount of accidents we get on this road. I actually have nightmares about it and I'm not the nightmare type. Surly it's an easy thing to sort out....?! :(

in the last two days there have been to motocycle accidents outside my flat.

one on tues eve going up the hill, he didnt apper to hit anything but came off and slid a way. not badly injured and all the kids with the dominos players on rush common went over to help him.

the second was lat night also about 6pm and involved a bike and ?two cars at the end of hayter road. not serious i dont think.

something has to happen.

Of all the places that genuinely need a speed camera, the bottom of Brixton Hill is one.
But hey, guess what? The camera that's on that stretch has been turned off.

When I used to work for a motor insurer vehicles would often sit at the scene for days before being picked up by recovery companies (or sometimes nicked by gypsies!).

Of course, if the car was nicked & no-one has reported it being there to the coppers, then it could be there for a lot longer still.

Ah, well hopefully it's back on again then.
It certainly wasn't on for a while (the back of it was even painted back to grey from yellow - a sure sign)

I doubt it...forensics would have removed it I reckon.
