The environmental regeneration charity Groundwork has been given a grant by the lottery fund and one of the areas it is planning to regenerate is Trinity Gardens. We have had a questionnaire through our door asking us what we think should be done with the square - at the moment it is fenced off but open and tarmacced over - not especially pretty. Anyone got any ideas? I think my idea of a giant sculpture of a syringe won't be welcomed.

Does Trinity Gardens need regenerating?

The square itself needs something doing to it (not the most pressing thing in the world though of course)

Could be lovely. Esp. if they open it up for outdoors drinking etc. for the trinity arms. Cleaver square up in Kennington has a gravel surface and nice trees. People play boules on it and it's lovely in summer.
Anything's better the tarmac, anyway :)
I'd have said a useable playground for the local kids but I can't imagine that would be a very popular choice either!
A green area would be lovely - are there a lot of families around there? I've seen that lovely garden on the right as you walk up from Brixton rd that is far too well maintained to just be looked after by the council - why not see if the people that did that have any ideas? They seem to know what they are doing.
If it is made into a greenspace then it will need some maintenance but imo a square should have grass in the centre.

It might be - I think it should be something that kids would like, but there's a playground just round the corner already (covered in needles most mornings though)

Yes, lots of families - one of the kids asked my name when I moved in and now they all shout 'hello Rob' every time I walk by' :)
The resident's association did the new garden I think - it looks great doesn't it?
I want a duck pond there now.
it's fantastic - do you have access to it? It's quite adamant that it's not public :D

I don't think so - I think it's just the residents - they had an opening ceremony over the summer and they were charging £2 to walk around it
that's a bit weird - you can see it from the road!
Anyway - someone there clearly knows what's going on with landscaping.
I would picture something simple for the square itself though - there's a massive tree isn't there (I think???). That would provide shade so it would be a nice place to sit in the summer and have the kids play so I would grass it over and have benches for parents to sit in.

That reminds me that I have to update that page. Apparently the one side wasn't hit by a bomb but suffered subsidence from the Effra below.

would turn to shit and you know it - it has to be something that is easily maintained and ducks in central brixton is a bad idea :(

Really? That's the bit I live in and I've been telling everyone it was built on a bomb site. You made me lie to my friends. :(

I just think that you'd get squashed ducks in Trinity square - it's very small and they'd go wandering.

:(
I'll teach them the Green Cross Code
A statue of a giant crack squirrel.
They could feasibly shut two sides off to traffic, put the displaced parking down one side and have a nice connected space to the houses and the pub.
