i was just out walking to tesco

i could swear i was building up an electrical charge ... the lightning was all around me and my hair felt tingly....

if i had been out on a moor i thing i would have been looking for some nice nonconducting shelter

Fucking ace :)

The high street is chaos - a couple of inches of water on the road and people running around all over the place, lit by almost continuous lighting.

Fuck! that was a big one.

Mine are sitting on the windowsill looking out at it and looking smug. Same as they do every day.

There's quite an impressive display of lightning here as well.

It soaked our next-to-the-window stairs in a matter of seconds, here in East London.
Very impressive :)

Is summer now officially dead? :(

I think with global warming, the humidity and all, we're getting our very own far east-style rainy season. And Thames Water still won't catch it all.

I failed miserably to take a picture.

Sets camera up on tripod on self timer.

Click....wait....nothing.. shutter closes.

I've often wondered about that. Has anyone actually EVER got hit by lightning whilst taking a photo of it?

I was going to last night but thought I'd better not

That was one impressive beast of a storm. So close was the lightning that the thunder just sounded like a continuous roar for minutes.

It was all quite entertaining until the sheer weight of water made a mockery of the roof on our lean-to/back room thing. Water was literally pouring over the top of the walls as water overwhelmed the guttering.

Still, we got to paddle in 2 inches of indoor paddling pool. And the (indoor) plants got a damn good water.

Was just going to ask if anyone got any pics :D

I think gaijinboy got one that might be quite good on his camera phone! But he's got it at the mo so can't see till later.

We got back last night to a completely sodden bed because despite asking BL to close the window before we went out, he privately decided the possibility of rain coming through an open window was very unlikely

That's not very appealing
But it's worse when through the ceiling (http://www.urban75.net/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=5048857&postcount=41)

Oooh that was GREAT. I love storms and that was the first proper one there's been for ages. Woke up to the first crash of thunder and watched the rest of the storm through my window, curled up in bed, feeling smug and cosy.
Anyone know if there's more to come?

I've often wondered about that. Has anyone actually EVER got hit by lightning whilst taking a photo of it?If I could have found my ruddy shutter release remote control then I would have almost certainly been able to grab a few shots. Bah!
