I really think they need to signpost it better.

This morning, two of the stairways downstairs were about to be blocked. One was blocked by a woman with the biggest and heaviest wheelie suitcase I'd ever seen (in fact, I suspect there was a body in there ;) ) The other was blocked by a family about to take a pram down.

I directed the pram family to the lift and they seemed relieved. I even forget it's there myself sometimes.

Anyone know anyone who works there and can suggest they signpost it better?

New health and safety regulations prevent its use by the elderly, disabled, those with prams, large suitcases or small children.

umm no :D, but I haven't used the station since they turned it into a cutdown Croydon overland station. It didn't used to have on did it? (mind you I'm only noticing lifts since I've had a child)

The liftwas installed quite a while ago (to make Brixton Tube wheelchair accessible, more Guide Dog friendly etc) and as far as I know it has never worked. For a long time there were announcements 'This is Brixton, a level access station' when it sodding well wasn't and still isn't as far as I can tell.

It does work, well did a couple of weeks ago. Although I didn't think to use it, my friend who had just arrived from China with loads of luggage said why dont we use the lift, me - what lift...

I saw someone use it last week or the week before. Surely they'd lock it up again if it wasn't working?

Nah, that's too logical

No, no, just the exhilirating thrill of being moved by a mighty industrial machine. That transcendant glow of feeling nature's power controlled and directed. The might of the human spirit taming the savage elements! Gravity! Thou hast dominion over no man! And so on. Left me quite breathless :)

Are you sure all this exhilaration wasn't because it actually worked ;)

i'm signed up to the TFL text alert thingy and the amount of times i get a txt saying 'lift broken' is daft.

still, i havent had one for a few weeks, maybe they gave up telling me.

does it go all the way down?

OK, I've just had an update from someone who needs the lift...the surface (Brixton Road) to platform lift doesn't work but the one from station concourse to platform lift does work, so it's only any use to people who can use the stairs but not the escalators.......

I saw someone get into the surface lift today with a pushchair.

Maybe she's still in there...

Both lifts were working Wednesday.
