If you fancy the Hobgoblin, text me or pop on down Chris. Not sure who'll be down there, but I'll almost certainly be on one of the big tables with some of the locals.

You may have to wait for a little bit for a drink these days, but it's still one of the best footie pubs in the area for atmosphere and banter.

Cheers tarannau

Think I'm going to be elsewhere though it seems..

It's ok Donna - I'm just provoking firey young Chris :)

I'm largely ambivalent about footie - but I do love a mob so the big matches get a bit of fairweather fan attention :)

Is the match large and will there be a mob for mentality?

tarannau

There's always a mob mentality in the Hobgoblin. Football not necessary.

;)

Well, biggest club match in the world. Dunno about mob.

Are you an arsenal fan filter? I want to watch the match with proper fans - not people who are going to change allegiance if it looks like barca could be in with a chance 1/2 way through.

I'm too scared to go to Highbury on my own :o

ChrisFilter

You see I'm only really going down the pub - as a virtual neutral - to keep a beady eye on some of the more committed Arse fans I know in there. I may not feel the game that deeply, but you can be sure that you'll be able to see the agony and/or ecstacy of the occasion reflected in their watching eyes.

Here's hoping for a good game...

Are you going to the EDT? I'm not that arsed about the match, but am right in the mood for a quick stiff drink after work, and its on my way home... help a lady in distress ;)

Everyone knows me. Well they don't actually.

But slightly sadly, it's a fair bet that a high proportion of people in the pub and the staff will know me by (real) name. So if you're keen for pub action, pop along and I can escort and deposit you to a table of rabid -Arsenalians.

PM if you get stuck...

BiddlyBee
17-05-2006, 16:05
Yep still here... not sure where people are watching the match... should I head Brixton way, and settle down with a drink and book then? Or Dulwich way?
I'm easy, depends where you want to watch the match - I'll probably head home after a few.

There is nowhere sadly in brixton to watch football, except the hob. cept for the canterbury arms, which smells like decaying old people in my experience.

dogstars got it too i'd say, but its a bit like a morgue in there sometimes.

The only two good football pubs (imo) locally remaining are the Hob and Ganley's really, which is a real shame. I miss the Regent in particular, which was excellent for the less popular games. Same with the Commercial as it used to be - I even miss the old White Horse.

:(

The Effra's library quiet, the Canterbury a little too uninvolved for footie, the Albert's almost an afterthough.
