View Full Version : Recommend cheap & cheerful clothes shops for reluctant shopper

As my holiday is looming in a couple of weeks, I've decided it's that time of the year to brave the hell on earth that is clothes shopping....

Brixton appears to lack a Primark (my usual port of call), so I'm looking for recommendations for cheap clothes shops. Bearing in mind that I A) loathe clothes shopping, B) have only the most marginal interest in "fashion", C) refuse to pay more than seems reasonable given the work involved in producing the garment (i.e. it'll be a cold day in hell when I pay 50 quid for a T-shirt just because it's got a trendy label).

Is there a Peacocks in Brixton? Or a QS? Me and El Jugs buy stuff from those shops.

Hmmmm, so has Brixton become too gentrified for cheap clothes shops? :(

Looks like I'll have to try further afield then....

Aren't they girls shops?

I need cheap & cheerful places that sell mens clothes.

Preferably the sort of places that don't attract hordes of greasy youngsters.

Ender - you strike me as the sort of man who'd be at home in next.

it isn't as cheap as primark - but you can afford it - and it's a long way from trendy, while being a long way from what old men wear.

Peacocks is excellent, they have a ton of shops around too. Look for their website and they have a store finder.

Dirt cheap stuff, 8 quid for a pair of jeans, 4 quid for a T-shirt.

All rather plain stuff that isn't going to win you any fashion awards, but its functional and doesn't fall apart after 2 washes.

How about Uniqlo? Nearest ones are probably Wandsworth (by distance) or Oxford St (by time) I reckon.

I loathe and despise shopping, clothes shopping most of all!

Hence looking for recommendations in Brixton.

I can just about cope with nipping into one, possibly two at the most, local shops. I need to be able to feel that I can escape back to the safety of my flat at a moments notice.

If you include your email address when you place your order, you will receive a despatch confirmation email when your goods are ready to be delivered. me and savage henry both totally rate le redoute for its excellent quality and huge cheapness. The cabbage has been getting his holiday clothes from there. I was going to say why dont you jump on the 345 and go to Clapham Junction see what shops they have there, if not try Uni Glo in oxford street.

This is all so confusing. :(

Maybe I'll just stick with my aging and thoroughly unfashionable wardrobe.

Path of least resistance and all that.

I braved the horror of Saturday morning shopping in Brixton, but after 10 minutes of hopeless wanderings I could take no more. Ending up getting the bus to Peckham. I'm Primark'd to the max.
