There's a few around here with GR, for the old King George, the Queen's grandfather. My brother reckons he's seen one dating from Victoria's reign down in Kent somewhere. Any really old ones in your area?

There's one on the corner of Mervan Road (SW2) which is very old - its sort of octagonal in part, as far as I can remember. I only really noticed when I went to post a bulky letter and realised the slot was really small & narrow compared to modern postboxes.

Never noticed the reign, but I think it might actually be listed  . (Can't remember where I heard/ read that).

Got a lovely VR down the road; hidden in the ivy, paint half an inch thick, but crap for parcels :(

Very rare are the Edward 111VTH ones - about 8 or so in the UK apparently - there is one in Welshpool.

There is one on a very dull road off Beulah Hill (whose name I've completely forgotten!). But it is on the route of the Capital Ring. It's the only reason to visit that particularly dire corner of Upper Norwood.

There's another one east of Peckham Rye.

Answers are probably still archived on this thread on the London SE1 forum (http://www.london-se1.co.uk/forum/read/1/29187/page=1), which led regular posters there off on a wild goose chase.

I've seen that one -- it's definitely Victorian.

I love old postboxes! I love spotting a VR, I've seen quite a few around Ealing. They're often placed in walls rather than stand-alone. I always keep my eyes pealed for an Edward VIII but I've never seen one.

Have you seen the old green or blue ones?
