There's one on at the moment called Rolling with the Nines (http://www.rollinwiththenines.com/) which is set in Brixton - but it's supposed to be a bit rubbish.... :(
Still reckon I'll go and watch it though.

WELL I DIDNT KNOW DID I?
The place looks sooo much different.Must be the lack of Garbage on the streets.
Sure that Rude Boy by the Clash featured Brixton. In fact, thinking about it, sure it had the market in it.
Also maybe a late 70's/early 80's film called Babylon. Saw it on Beeb 2 when I were just a little Rigsby. Had that Jacko from Brushstrokes and the Jif ads in it. Never seen it on telly again. Love to watch it again, so anyone with any info on it, or either of them films, for that matter.......

There's a 1977 film called Black Joy, which tells the story of a black immigrant to the UK who arrives in Brixton then gets robbed. It stars Floella Benjamin (ex Play School presenter for those of a certain age) and the late Norman Beaton, of the mighty Desmond's fame.
It got a limited re-release last year, and is now on sale at Amazon on DVD for around 6.50, if anyone's interested.

It also featured the guy who later played Kelvin in eastEnders as a very feisty 7-year-old.

There's also a scene in Brady's (when it was still the Railway) where Ray Gange asks Joe Strummer what his "Brigade Rosse" t-shirt means, and he says it's a pizza restaurant. I first saw the film in Wiesbaden, and that made the German audience laugh out loud.
There's a really bad scene in Lost where Charlie leaves his brother's swish Britpop-style flat and walks out into an edgy urban wasteland where people are warming thier hands around open fires. The camera pulls back and... Charlie walks into a fake Brixton tube station :D

I've also just half-remembered a late 1980s male-female duo cop show on TV - she black, he white (high concept) - that was set in Brixton, largely in and around the Fridge, I think. Can't for the life of me remember the name.
