I can confirm that Sainsbury Local is open, the large Tesco on Acre Lane isn't.
I don't like the mini Sainsbuy's they're a rip off!! Still, must have Easter nibbles and more importantly milk...

Nisa on Brixton Hill's now open 24 hours, if anyone can be bothered walking up.

Weird how some shops have been open and others not. In Walworth, the main supermarket (Somerfields) was closed (I think Easter Day and Christmas Day are the only two days this happens) but there was more or less a full market in East Street, and several other shops in Walworth Road were open

That's a Sainsburys?

Bizarre!

The only shop in Walworth Road open on Christmas Day is the Turkish supermarket ...

I used to live off the Walworth Rd and I LOVED that shop. Great feta, olives, and the bread.... :)

OK I guess thats my cue cos I'm afraid I know WAY more about this than is healthy for any layman to know :D

If a shop has a square footage of 3000 sqft or below it is classed as a convience store and can open when it likes. If it is larger it must stay closed on Christmas and Easter. Hence places like Sainsburys Local and Tesco Express can open, as can most independants but Somerfield and bigger Tescos are closed

Actually *any* shop under 3000 sqft is classed as a convience store, no matter what it sells. For instance I went back home for Easter and the local branch of 'Game' was open-selling computer games!!!!
