Simon Chauke hails from the Northern part of South Africa. A second-born from a family of 6, Simon has loved music from early age. His first guitar was made from a 5-litre can of Castrol oil on which he taught himself how to play. Simon joined up with Dominic Angadi to play as a duo in 2005. Dominic has performed with bands playing Jazz, Samba, Compass and hi life music. His musical versatility makes him a perfect half of the duo. Their music draws influence from funky beats of Africa and covers wide ranging subjects. Simon lists Oliver Mtukudzi (Zimbabwe), Ismaël Lo (Senegal), Salif Keita (Mali) and Miriam Makeba (South Africa) as some of his influences. Simon and Dominic believe that African music needs to be celebrated and appreciated. It might be early days but this is one African group that you will hear more about in the future.
