Press conference will be at midday - live on Sky Sports News.

In ten years we've gone from the edge of extinction to the verge on being the most secure at any point in our history. The chairman, since taking over a few years back, promised he'd make sure that by the time he left we'd be premiership, with a new training ground and stadium and that we'd be financially secure. If todays conference does what we believe it will do, then he's delivered to the very letter.

Milan Mandaric isn't the most professional of Chairman. He cares deeply for the club and for the supporters, and it comes out in the way he defends us when anyone has a pop. He's a PFC fan and like PFC fans he's just slightly nuts with it. It's one of his best qualities.

I'm grinning like a loon. It's just so unbelievable.

:)

I'd be a bit more cautious if I were you, this guy is fronting for his old man who is extremely dodgy.

Still, hope it works out for you.

Yep this guy could also be pulled up by Putin lite Khordesky - far more likely than Roman to be held accountable. Okay so the club is secure, but I wouldn't be too happy about being funded by someone with such a shady past - it's not his money, it's his dads.

I'm prepared to overlook the arms dealing and general criminality if it means my club are financially secure, I have my priorities sorted. ;) :p

Wasn't Abramovich pretty dodgy too? I guess he was just better at keeping it out of the papers.
Anyway, the FA couldn't really give two shits. I think they're just making noise so their backs are covered if/when this goes tits up. I bet they're pretty chuffed with the (reputedly) up to £100m that this guy is going to pump into the transfer market.

Why would the FA be chuffed at £100m going into the transfer market, most likely spent on foreigners, when they are trying to halt inflation in the game.

All thats going to happen is that, lets face it, not many players want to go to Portsmouth, no matter how much money they have and clubs will suddenly double prices when they see Pompey approaching

Its an entirely different situation to Chelsea, who had a decent team before the money came in

I don't know enough about the economy in football to be able to argue this in all honesty, but I'll offer my uneducated opinion at any rate. ;)

Maybe what you said is right, but with this extra cash Redknapp won't have to be making cheap deals abroad and can (presumably) now afford to buy from inside the Premiership. I believe he made some negative comments about the number of foreign players at the club recently and now he can afford to buy closer to home I don't see why he won't.

I think you're in for a big shock if you think the Russians are going to pump 100 million into Pompey. They've made it very clear that this is a real estate deal.

They're probably going to do a Wimbledon on you

Yeah I heard that rumour that he's just after the land, it wouldn't suprise me in the slightest, but come on, we've had nothing but shit this season, let us wallow in our fantasies for just a little while. :D

Its not rumour - he's specifically said that its a land deal.

He's actually come out and said it now?

Bollocks.
Well I just grabbed a copy of the Portsmouth News, they're being decidedly optimistic about it.
Seems the spending has started already
Redknapp's gone looking for Lee Bowyer, Lee Hendrie and Mwaruwari (never heard of him) at a grand total of £6.5m, looks like we're also going for Benni McCarthy from porto for £6.5m

Not bad I guess. We've got something out of this deal at any rate.

Leer Bowyer please buy him :)

He's somewhat of a prat, isn't he?

Redknapp says: 'I think Bowyer would do something with us. And I think the crowd here would love him. He's had his problems, but I've known him since he was a kid. I like him because he has a go.'

I dunno, I've heard bad things about him. Maybe he's ok.

Seems Harry's also sniffing round Alexei Smertin, Wayne Bridge and Pedro Mendes.

Only thing I'm worried about at the moment is the prospect of bringing in all these new players and throwing them together mid-way through a season that's already going pretty badly for us.
I know things can't get much worse, points wise, but we need some consistency if we want any chance of staying up...

Portsmouth have smashed the club transfer record by signing Zimbabwe international Benjani Mwaruwari for a fee of £4.1m

Mwaruwari said

I had the chance to join Marseille but I preferred to come here - I speak English but my French was still bad.

All the right reasons :D

It could be worse.

We have a new investor right out of the blue with a nice fat cash injection and the potential to get our shit together. I'm relatively happy, all things considered.

Just what football needs, more idiotic amounts of money from questionable sources being chucked at everything and the media and supporters lapping it up like idiots.
