Hi All,

Not sure if any of you guys/gals are TV techies but I have a question about Digital TV Coverage in the Brixton Area.

I live right at the top of Brixton Hill (just off New Park Road) and am wanting to get Digital TV with coverage of Sky Sports channels (this I believe is not possible with a standard Digital TV Set top box that you can buy from Currys and places like that).

Anyhow Sky isn't an option, NTL don't do coverage in the area, Telewest don't do coverage in the area, which I believe leaves me with one Digital TV Choice, "Homechoice". They basically have everything I want but I've been a bit put off by them after reading many "unconvincing" reviews about them on the web  , does anybody use them, if so are they any good?

Failing this, I wondered if anybody out there knew of any other Digital TV channels that cover the Brixton area?

Thanks in advance.

I don't do TV but I have a DAB radio so that I can listen to The Archers without bleed from pirates
( Vibes FM  )
...most of the time it's OK but sometimes it's so squelchy that it's unlistenable. I'm in Central Brixton.

If you can't have Sky or cable then homechoice is your only option for Sky Sports.

www.digitalspy.co.uk has some good forums for discussing these things, including a Homechoice specific forum.

PS if you drink slowly you could proberbly go to the pub and watch the footie for less than a months subscription!

Can I ask why you can't get Sky? Is it a line of sight thing?
I have NTL analogue (I live in central Brixton) but unable to get digital coverage at the moment. :(

We have had Homechoice installed for over a year now, and I have to say that they have been pretty shit on the whole. Breaks in service are fairly commonplace, and trying to get through to customer care is nigh on impossible!
Although saying that, when it is working, I reckon its a pretty good deal, we get cable TV and 2meg broadband for £27 a month, and it also comes with TV on demand, which means that you get replay options on some BBC shows and on selected other channels - cool.

We are at the Kennington end of Brixton Road btw...

Does that include Sky Sports though?

Listed building, I know folks do break the rules...but our Freeholder is dead set against it.

Oh dear.
Well I have NTL and I can't be more than a mile from you. I know that NTL is currently extending its network, so it might be worth trying to speak to a human being at the company to find out when you are due to get it in your area.
