It's broken apparently , he's due to be out for 3 months giving him 2 months to get back to fitness and on form for the world cup . I don't think he's been playing that well at newcastle anyway so if some of the other strikers in contention for an England spot play well he may not get his place back even if he does get back in time !

He'll be back. And it's metatarsAl, fwiw.
 hope it doesnt affect his night tonight!
we always have stuff like this before a world / european cup. remember beckham's metatarsal? always get sorted out. if he'd done it in march then maybe I would be worried. bloke on the radio said it would be about ten weeks.
and, as K & U has pointed out, Newcastle will now plummet, which is always good for a laugh. souness out!

Michael Owen has been playing well for Newcastle in that he has been scoring goals, which is what a striker is supposed to do.
He is guaranteed his place back under the Sven Goran Eriksson never deviate from a set formual England team picking process.
If only it happened 2 weeks ago eh kained? :p

Even in that worst case scenario (and he may recover more quickly anyway) 2 months is more than enough for him to get back to full fitness and form.
(he says with fingers crossed behind his back  )
<edit to add> : in any case, 3 months from end of December is end of March. From that, you have nearly 3 months til the end of June, just before which (circa 25 June??) is when the World Cup starts
And by the time he gets back in the Newcastle side, they'll have a new manager ... :p

Rush him back in relegation six pointer, score a goal, get injured misses World Cup but who gives a fuck, because he scored for us
We need to continue our current apathy towards Home Counties FC
It gaves Souey an excuse to be shite but also prevents him from succeeding thus ensuring the inevitable summer departure.
And Given's done his finger in, step up long term Celtic target Steve Harper (our former rotation Champions League goalkeeper :( only 2 year ago)

Have you checked out their games won ratio with and without him?

Actually the world cup starts in early june, around the 9th. Although that is a bit later than the last one, whcih started at the end of May (which backfired on FIFA somewhat as so many players were knackered).
Still, I agree that this isn't too bad. In fact it means Owen should be pretty fresh when he comes into the world cup.
I am more worried that rooney et al are going to get injured in around april, which would really stuff things up...

Maybe he is , I just got the impression he wasn't really doing that well there for some reason . But I suppose with the rest of the newcastle team it's not hard to look good :p

Nope, he's done really well there, pretty much all the games they've lost have been ones he missed with injuries.
