Yay. Get the kids' festival out of the way, then we can get on with the grown up partying. :)

What are you doing for Hogmanay?

With a few bottles of course.

Or going to see the Proclaimers. :)

Puhleeeze, it's Old Year's Night!

...and I'll probably be sat at home on my own with the kids again, Mr weeps has a gig and there's a party I could go to which is kiddie friendly to an extent but I'm really thinking it'll be too much hassle and I'll end up chasing an exhausted-yet-hyper two year old around all night trying to stop her breaking stuff.

I probably will be getting very drunk.

Wow, that bunker looksin better nick than the one in Clermiston (admittedly that got burned out during a rave about 15 years ago,but still...). Can you get into the bunker?

To answer the OP, I shall either be staying at home or out out with my girlfriend and others, hoping that evryone will drink themselves unconcious so I cn get some sleep before my nightshift on the 1st [/old codger]

Fraid not. Seriously contaminated with asbestos. :( The govt are not looking forward to the end of the lease either apparently, the landowner has asked for it back, clean!

As for the Edinburgh one. Apparently it is occasionally possible to get into the top section but the most interesting part - the former RSG, was left in such a seriously damaged & asbestos-contaminated state after the fire that they have more or less decided to seal it completely.

This image is from @2001 IIRC.

Aye. Used to go into the clermiston bunker when I was young. Used to be easy acces from either the top or the bottom. Council sealed it up years ago, but we managed to open it up again. Right mess I can tell you...wouldn't might visiting one in decent nick.

ETA: that pick looks like it's taken on the first level below ground - you have to down a huuuge tunnel with a burnt out car in it (met one of the guys who set on fire once but that's another story) ahhhhh memories, eh?

Edited again: actually I think that's the top level. You can see light coming in so it cant be underground. IIRC, the room beneath where the floor has caved in is where a lot of the asbestos is, and is still flooded with water. Man, this is making me want totake awander up the road :o

You're absolutely right about Hogmanay down here, so I'll be heading up to Scotland next year. The plans are in the pipeline. :)

We're just about ready, too. My special clootie dumpling will be ready in just under an hour.

Anyone else do the cleaning & tidying the house thing? We're pretty spick and span here, although I haven't done the front step with Cardinal Red. That's taking it a bit far, I'd say...

Have a good New Year everyone!

Yup! Did it yesterday. Place spotless! :)

Cardinal Red, my Gran would be proud. I once had to do an entire wall with the stuff for her.

Chest much better as well, so it looks like a few pubs then the Proclaimers if we can still get in.

Have a good one when it comes! :D

I've done the London thing for the better part of 20 years. I spent one Hogmanay in Edinburgh in '91 and one in Walberswick a couple of years ago...mmmmm, Adnams. :D
