Protest Gwrth-Alltudio
12 o'r gloch Sadwrn 22 Hydref Neuadd y Ddinas, Caerdydd

Trefnir y gwrthdystiad gan Fforwm Cymdeithasol Caerdydd mewn cydweithrediad â nifer o fudiadau i ffoaduriaid ac unigolion pryderus.

Ni fu erioed fwy o angen cynnal y fath wrthdystiad. Mae ceiswyr lloches o Zimbabwe ac o ardal Cwrdaidd Irac yn parhau i wynebu'r bygythiad o gael eu halltudio, er gwaetha'r sefyllfa enbydus yn y gwledydd hyn. Yn ogystal, mae'r llywodraeth wedi cychwyn gweithredu Adran 9 o Ddeddf Mewnfudo 2004 - mesur sy'n tynnu ymaith yr hawl i geiswyr lloches dderbyn budd-daliadau cyn mynd at apêl, a mesur sy'n golygu eu bod mewn gwirionedd (gan nad oes hawl ganddynt i weithio) yn cael eu newynu nes gorfod gadael y wlad.

Bydd y brotest yn canolbwyntio ar ddau ofyniad - Rhowch Derfyn ar yr Alltudio a Diddymwch Adran 9. Bydd yn un brotest ymhlith nifer ledled Prydain wrth i'r momentwm gynyddu yn erbyn yr arfer o wneud ceiswyr lloches yn fychod dihangol.

'Ryn ni nawr yn gofyn am gefnogaeth. 'Ryn ni'n gofyn i ymgyrchoedd, canghennau undebau llafur, grwpiau gwleidyddol, cymunedol a chrefyddol i noddi'r brotest - os yn bosibl trwy wneud cyfraniad o £10-£20, os na trwy ychwanegu eu henwau i'n cyhoeddusrwydd. Gofynnwn i bawb sy'n pryderu ledaenu'r gair am y brotest a datgan cefnogaeth eu mudiad trwy ebostio cardiffsocialforum@yahoo.co.uk

Anti-deportation Demo

12 noon, Saturday 22 October City Hall, Cardiff

The demo has been called by Cardiff Social Forum in association with various refugee groups and concerned individuals.
The need for such a demo has never been more urgent. Asylum-seekers from Zimbabwe and the Kurdish area of Iraq remain under threat of deportation, despite the desperate situations in these countries. In addition, the government has begun bringing in the appalling Section 9 of the 2004 Immigration Act - removing the right to benefits of asylum-seekers before they can appeal: effectively (since they are not allowed to work) starving them out of the country.

The demo will focus on the two demands - Stop the Deportations and Repeal Section 9. It is one of many planned across the UK as momentum builds against the scapegoating of asylum-seekers.

We are now seeking support. We want campaigns, trade union branches, political, community and religious groups to sponsor the demo - if possible with a donation of £10-20; if not simply by lending their name for our publicity. We urge everyone concerned to get the word around and to pledge the support of their organisation by emailing cardiffsocialforum@yahoo.co.uk

Did the Forum pick the day of the anarchist bookfair deliberately? :(

this is the second of a series of demo's happening around the country against deportations & Section 9.

there's a report on the bolton demo from last saturday here (http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/sheffield/2005/10/324905.html).

Next demo after this one is in Liverpool in November.

Goodness, you read between the lines of my post!

Congratulations :)

Edited to add: after Belboid's post, if this is a nationwide series of rolling demos, then one of them was gonna clash with the bookfair, so fair enough.

S'alright! We weren't their mates in the first place - we'll have to get together for a drink and put the world to disorder ;)

Didn't see Respect (or indeed Forward Wales) listed amongst the supporters of the rally on their leaflet. Was this an oversight or did Respect decide not to support the rally for some reason? Genuine question.

RESPECT supported it, as did SWP. Unfortunately both orgs have been plagued by illness, so the sponsorships came in later than had been planned. i.e. the people who were originally sorting this out were taken ill. This meant there was no RESPECT banner on demo also :(
